The Bible depicts the church as being like that of a virgin bride. This illustration immediately presents an abundance of imagery, but you cannot view it with a modern mindset. To appreciate what it must have been like for Jesus’ disciples, when He taught them about the coming Kingdom of God using marriage parables, or to Paul’s readers, when he described Jesus as the husband of the church; you need to understand what marriage, and an engagement period was like in Jesus’ day. When comparing an ancient Jewish wedding to the Rapture of the church, there is an amazing parallel in which every aspect of an ancient Jewish wedding is fulfilled in the prophetic teachings of Jesus, as well as in the writings recorded by the apostles. This becomes so important, because, by looking back at the ancient Jewish wedding customs, and looking forward to the Rapture, you can see that God is truly a unique character.
A Jewish wedding ceremony, like all rituals, has particular actions and sounds. Prayers and blessings are said under a canopy, the marriage contract is witness, blessings spoken over a glass of wine, and finally the breaking of glass. All these motions and words spoken are what make up a Jewish wedding ritual. Rites of passage also occur through these ceremonies. During a Jewish wedding, the participants pass one status to another and become mindful of their new obligations and station.

The details of the wedding ceremony suggest a lot of information about the communication style that is taking place throughout the ceremony. One type of information that is demonstrated throughout the ceremony is the idea of the Hindu religion being part of a high context culture. The Hindu wedding ceremony is full of these indirect messages that are common with the high context culture. First there are a lot of symbols used in the wedding ceremony.
Elizabethan weddings and marriages had a plethora of unique traditions, and they are both similar and different to modern day weddings. Elizabethan society expected all men and women to get married at some point in their life, and when a couple got married the entire town usually attended. Ceremony Ethnography In North American culture, weddings are usually a lavish celebration of joining two families. Recently, at a wedding I attended with my family, I noticed many things about the role of music in the wedding ceremony. Usually weddings are composed of a ceremony, with a reception or celebration afterwards. In this wedding, there was a limited role of music in the actual ceremony (other than the bridal procession/ “Here Comes the Bride” and when the newlyweds exited at the end of the wedding), however the role of music was more substantial in the wedding reception (in which there was celebratory music and dancing).
