What do you think of when someone brings up the 80s, classic sci-fi movies, ridiculous fashion trends, the introduction of modern video games? How about the peak of heavy metal bands? One can’t talk about 80s metal bands without mentioning Van Halen. The band’s amazing instrumentals, predominantly it's blindingly swift yet controlled guitar playing, helped reinvent heavy rock, and they still stand as examples for many modern rock musicians and bands. Van Halen’s introduction to the music industry wasn’t something out of the ordinary, like many other legendary bands they had numerous hits, yet, they also had many internal conflicts and break ups. Despite going through many conflicts and replacements, the band is still together, and it and its …show more content…
Van Halen stands true to this belief. The band came to fruition when in 1974 a group of college students in Pasadena, California, decided to make a band, drop out of school, and pursue their dreams of becoming a part of the music industry (The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, n.d.). The band originally consisted of four members: Eddie Van Halen, who was the band’s guitarist, Alex Van Halen, Eddie’s brother and the band’s drummer, David Lee Roth, the lead vocalist, and Michael Anthony, the band’s bassist and harmony singer. The band would later end up signing a contract with Warner Bros., and changing its name, which had been Mammoth, to Van Halen, because another band with the name Mammoth already existed. (The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, n.d.)It wasn’t until 1978 that the band received public attention with the release of their self-titled debut album (The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, n.d.), which quickly launched them onto a long …show more content…
Van Halen is still together today, despite the numerous members that have been instilled since their debut. Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie’s son), and David Lee Roth, who was the lead singer for the group from the 1970’s to the mid 1980’s, are all part of the “modern” Van Halen band. The group has continued to make songs since the 2009 reunion of Roth, with their latest album “A Different Kind of Truth”, as well as several tours in 2015. They have also made remasters of their older songs, such as “Jump” and “Panama”. As for the ex-group members, Mark Stone is not entirely credited with Van Halen, even though he was the bass and backing vocals for the first two years of the group. Not much is known about Mark Stone, but some say that he is still trying to compose his own music. Gary Cherone is also a little known member of Van Halen, but was the lead vocalist from 1996-1999 and is now the lead singer for the band Extreme. Mike Anthony has also broken up with the band, changing from Van Halen bassist to Chickenfoot bassist. He claims he left because of Eddie Van Halen asking whether or not Mike was “in or out”. Eventually, Mike chose out. Through that time, however, it was apparent that Eddie didn’t really want Mike to stay

Guns N’ Roses’ early career was strange, like any other rock n’ roll band. Guns N’Roses was a band that took a very short time to get together. There were many members involved when they first came together. They lost Tracii Guns who played guitar and Ole Beich who played bass. They gained Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler (Phillips & Cogan, 2009).
How Rock and Roll Has Been Affected and Evolved Through the Ages Larry Williams, the blues and rock and roll singer, once said, “Rock and Roll has no beginning and no end for it is the very pulse of life itself.” With this quote, he shows that rock and roll truly is an ever-changing enigma. Its lifespan is similar to that of a human’s life because it has consisted of many phases like rockabilly, doowop, and many others. It has had its ups and its downs with the appearance of young new talent that inspired people around the world, and the death of superstars has ripped fans apart as long as this historical music genre has existed.
The most recent album they created was American Beauty/American Psycho, and they are in the process of making another one now. Fall Out Boy was one of the reasons Fueled by Ramen, an American record label that was struggling to get onto the music train, skyrocketed years later.
Some of their newer songs at the time were huge hits and earned Grammys, but before that their album One of These Nights took a very long time to produce which costed them a band member, but they eventually got a replacement (The Eagles, 2014). Before Leadon left, they recorded One of These Nights but he got left out so he left after they finished recording and went to a different band (The Eagles, 1983). In 1980, the band started to split because of not getting along when they were recording their hit album The Long Run. They were starting to fight because the album took so long to record and causing them to break apart (Gould, 2014). Even after their breakup, they still managed to thrive and their albums were still a hit among their fans (The Eagles,
When More of the Monkees, the band’s second album was created, they, especially Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork, grew angry at the lack of control that they had over its production (Deming). This anger would later lead to arguments which caused the group to split from their producer (Deming). The Monkees traded the help of their producer for creative freedom. Overall, it is hard to say whether this did more harm or

The 1990’s was arguably the greatest decade for the music scene. This decade encountered the rise of the best musical artists and bands of all time. Without Rock and Roll, many genres of music would never have emerged, such as: garage rock, pop rock, blues rock, and psychedelic rock. Although rock no longer rules popular music, the styles of the 1960’s still appeal to the ears of those born long after. The utopian frenzy of rock defined the music of that era, and to this day continues to structure the music we call Rock and Roll
