Marfatia (1973) investigated a study on Psychiatric Problems of Children. He founds that lack of parental love, over strictness or over rules and regulation, attitude especially that of father, regular fights between the parents, those parents who are alcoholic, low family income, loneliness and lack of entertaining channels are some of the causes which are responsible for disturbance among the adolescents in various areas such as home, emotional, social and educational adjustment. Thakkar (2003) conducted a study on academic achievement, adjustment and study habits of rural and urban students. A sample size of 200 students of IX class from rural and urban area was selected for the study and the data is collected through simple random sampling. Tools which are used in the study are, Adjustment Inventory by M.N. Palsana; Study Habit Inventory by M.N. Palsana and Academic achievement score on the basis of their two unit tests, semester/terminals and their final examinations. The sample size of the study is 300 boys of class 5th out of which 200 boys were case of parental deprivation. The Tools which were used in the study are: (1) Raven’s Coloured Progressive Matrices; Socio-economic Scale Questionnaire by SD Kapoor et al. (2) Children Concept Scale by S.P. Ahluwalia. (3) Four Achievement Tests (Math, Science, Language and Social Studies) constructed by the researcher. The important findings of the study were: (1) there is significant difference between the achievement of parentally deprived and other children. (2) The study finds that parentally deprived children were underachievers while others were average in achievement.
