Of Italy's 20 regions, Molise is the one everybody forgets. But there's plenty about it that's memorable.
Challenge your friends to a game of 'who can name all of Italy's regions' and Molise will probably be the last one they say – if they say it at all.
Among Italians from the other 19 regions of Italy, it's fair to say Molise is considered a bit of a joke. Scores of Facebook groups exist poking fun at Italy's youngest and second smallest region after alpine Val d'Aosta, such as the cleverly titled “Molisn't: I don't believe in the existence of Molise” which has 63,000 members.
But the low esteem in which the rest of Italy holds the region is no reflection of its fascinating

Visitor's to semi deserted town's across the region can easily 'blackout' for a couple of days in places where conversation is a form of art, not an emoticon.
It has flavours most visitors never experience
While every region in Italy has its own traditional gastronomy, some region's foods hog all the attention.
Roman pasta alla carbonara and Sicilian arancini/e can be found cluttering up restaurant menus across Italy but you will struggle to find traditional fare from Molise anywhere outside the region.
Regional specialits include things like cavatelli al ragu di agnello – small pasta shells with lamb ragu and torcinelli – sheep's liver sausages.
Molise boasts some of Italy's most obscure wines, such as Biferno and Pientro di Iserna which have red, white and rosè varieties.
It's easy and cheap to get there
In spite of 63,000 non-believers, Molise does exist and its second city of Isernia can be reached in two hours by train from Rome and Naples, for less than €25 return.

When considering Italy after its formation as nation-state in the late 19th century, it has never been required to change by other countries. However, throughout the entire history Italian territory has faced many invasion and battles which have influenced it. But unfortunately, this country has also been involved in cruel events for the purpose of conquering new lands. Some of the most recent terrible actions done by this country were the conquest of African colonies during the Fascism. Indeed, the purpose of these mission in Africa were to destroy other countries such as Libya and Eritrea in order to provide benefits to Italians.

Unfortunately, not too long after he joined forces with Germany, Mussolini lost his own country to the Germans.
