The human population is on the rise around the world, Hawaii being no exception. Even though Hawaii is a small island, overpopulation was caused by many people who are militaries, tourists, and immigrants. Actually, in 2011 Hawaii’s population density was 214 people per square mile. Also, on Oahu, where the majority of Hawaii residents live, the population density was 1,468 people per square mile. Therefore, Hawaii ranked 13th population density in the U.S. Hawaii’s overpopulation problem leads to the cost of living is high, increasing homelessness and the traffic congestion. Obviously, these overpopulation problems should be alleviate for Hawaii’s residents.
The argument of Mayor Jones is flawed for many unwarranted assumptions. Primarily, the memorandum assumes that by building a subway system, the majority of motorists will start taking subways while travelling. The argument has also mentioned vague points regarding increase in worker productivity and flourishment of economy that needs further assessment. Traffic congestion in the GTA has become a more pressing issue over the years. The increase of suburban culture has aided to the growth of traffic congestion. For the average person, cars have become increasingly affordable instead of being a luxury item as it was in the past. This increase in affordability has spiked traffic congestion; as a result more cars are on the roads and major highways en route to the core of Toronto. In addition the increase of housing unit across and in the GTA that lead to narrow roads has also become a major factor in traffic congestion. Therefore, This essay will explore the impact of suburban culture and how it has affected traffic both across and within the GTA.
Within the last decade, San Francisco has dramatically changed. San Francisco’s working class people and poor neighborhoods underwent drastic economic and racial changes from the 1990s to mid 2000s, resulting in the undeniable gentrification of the districts. San Francisco’s gentrification has reached a ridiculous new extreme, making it the most expensive city in the country, outstripping even Manhattan. The beginning of the issue was right after the dotcom and Tech industries started drastically moving to the Bay Area. In 2005, new technology companies like Google, Facebook, and Cisco began attracting thousands of high-paid employees to the bay. To ensure this emphasis is maintained, bonuses are tied to employee’s ability to produce more while lowering costs. Consequently, Flatrock’s misconception that Tower’s margins are 30%, when in actuality they are 16%, can be attributed to this bottom-line oriented culture as it promotes cost containing behaviours. Increasing transparency into Tower’s operating model and costs will resolve this misconception and will satisfy the bottom-line oriented aspect of their culture.
