Mormon apocalypse has got a lot of people into panic buying freeze-dried food, flashlights and others emergency necessities in Utah. According to the believers of this religion, the end of the world is about to happen this September.
According to the Huffington Post, the many biblical prophecies along with the Hebrew calendar, the dwindling economy, global politics and the many things that are happening in the sky; are more than enough reasons to believe that the world is indeed about to end this month.
One of the people working at American Fork's Thrive Life was interviewed about the said preparation for doomsday, Ricardo Aranda said, "There is a sense of urgency, like something is up. A lot of people are mentioning things about September, like a financial collapse."

They also said that September 28, which will be a full moon, is another sign of the end of the world.
Books written by Julie Rowe, who is also a Mormon, are also the reasons why this apocalypse was said to occur. She wrote "A Greater Tomorrow," 'My Journey Beyond the Veil," and "The Time Is Now," which all relate to near-death experience. Rowe sold more than 20,000 copies of each of her books.
However, not all Mormons believe in the apocalypse. In fact, officials of the church don't encourage their people to believe in it because they don't think it is really coming to an end anytime soon. One their late leaders even told their followers to plan for long, productive lives.
NASA on the other hand also didn't say that the world is going to end this September. But then again, apocalypse believers probably just want to be sure they are spared from the chaos that doomsday will bring to mankind just in case it happens this month, so they'd rather be prepared for
In this article, Yesilbas, Trendacosta, and Newitz, list thirteen examples of Armageddon stories that teach lessons about the real world and its end. One example they examine is Logan’s Run. This book depicts survivors of war, overpopulation, and pollution living in a city sealed off from the forgotten world. However, life and death are controlled by a computer and when a person turns 30 they are disintegrated and reborn. If you choose not to die, you will be referred to as a “runner”, a criminal hunted down and murdered by the police.
The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or “Mormons”, as they are more commonly called, have been around since 1830. The church was founded by a man named Joseph Smith in New York. Shortly thereafter the entire church body moved across the midwest, eventually to Missouri. It was there in Missouri where Governor Lilburn Boggs issued executive order fourty four or, as it is more commonly called, the “Extermination Order”. The Missouri executive order forty four was an order issued in 1838 by Governor Boggs, a former governor of the state of Missouri.
One reason is because they supposedly “poisoned a spring and an ox carcass near the central Utah town of Fillmore. ”11 After reading the book Massacre at Mountain Meadows, I now believe that it was a spore to have poisoned the spring and killed the ox around that time being transferred through meat to people, which would end up killing them. I understand that some of the men “threatened to join the incoming federal troops against the saints. ”12 One man even went as far as to claim, “he had a gun that killed Joseph Smith,”13 him being one of the men the Mormons most admired.
Of course, Krakauer does agree that most Mormons are peaceful, industrious, and law-abiding. He also takes as given that the mainstream LDS church rejects the idea that the splinter groups he is describing have anything to do with modern Mormon beliefs. But nevertheless, the fundamentalist extremists Krakauer profiles use the same book of scripture and espouse most of the same religious
Mormons believe that we can live a perfect life. Matthew 5:48 states, “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as our Father in heaven is perfect.” Some believe Jesus didn’t really mean perfect, because that would require that we be flawless. Instead, we believe He was telling us to be mature. Section 4: Witnessing to Mormons: Mormons as we have read believe in multiple gods, if each one of us has the potential in becoming a god then we must presume that there are hundreds if not thousands of gods.
The article explains what type of people are involved in the Y2K event. It separates people in the event as survivalists and the undisturbed. The article argues that “At the other are survivalists who are stockpiling food, water and guns in remote fortresses where they plan to weather the crisis” (Allan 1). People prepared for what they thought was an upcoming apocalypse by stockpiling food, water, and guns. In the scenario where people would feel their lives are in such danger, there has to be a sense of fear or concern that is making them act the way they are.
Every year, there is a annual and semiannual conference held in Salt Lake City Utah, at the Salt Lake City Conference Center. The conference is held every April and October. Members and leader of the Church of Latter Day Saints come together and attend sessions where they listen to religious leader’s sermons. Each conference consists of six sessions - four general sessions, one male priest session and one women’s session. This is an important ritual in the Mormon Church.
There are actually quite a few different sects that fall under the heading "Fundamentalist Mormon," and distinguishing between them can be helpful in understanding how polygamy is practiced by the group. Polygamy, while invariably illegal throughout North America, is still a form of marriage. As such, there are guidelines regarding the way Fundamentalist Mormons form their commitments and carry them out. Perhaps the most basic one is this: Only a specific form of polygamy is
The Mormon Mistakes Throughout history, religion has negatively affected its own members. This is especially true with the Mormon Church, a denomination of Christianity founded in the 1820s. This church like any other has helped better people 's lives in spiritual ways. However, there are people that are denied this betterment, people that are discriminated against, and people that are being lied to.
The amount of unrestricted power one person can have is unbelievable and frankly must be limited. One researcher reasons the Mormons’ supreme leader, who is also called the prophet or president, word is said to be supreme. The supreme leader’s followers can be disciplined to neglect or scorn those who show any signs of defiance (Hitchens). This statement proves that religious cult leaders, such as the leaders of the Mormon church, have absolute power over their followers. The prophet can control how his followers respond in any situation and that type of power is excessive and unneeded.
I 'm currently 19 years old and I will not be serving an LDS mission.... and that 's okay. I have lived in Cache Valley my whole life. That means that you are 90% likely to see three church houses when making a left turn... and in some places I wouldn 't even be exaggerating. Being surrounded by so many people of the same faith has been such a blessing.
The members of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) resembles the term Mormons because of their trust in the Book of Mormon. (Mormons. Old fashioned, hand made clothing, reserved lives, playgrounds that only consist of a cement slab, and a school system that only teaches through the eighth grade are peculiar to the outside world. These oddities are just the surface of the unusual practices that take place in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. The FLDS church is one of the largest Mormon fundamentalist denominations and one of the largest organizations in the United States whose members practice polygamy. Polygamy is illegal, in 1890 the Mormon church ended its practice of polygamy, which created a split in the church. Fundamentalists moved to secluded areas where they could continue their practice of plural marriage.
In order to understand apocalyptic literature, and determine its significance today, it is therefore vital to recognise its key characteristics. First, it must be noted that apocalyptic describes a literary genre, and must not be confused with apocalyptic eschatology, which pertains specifically to the end of all time, and which emerges in several literary forms. Equally, it must not be confused with apocalypticism, in which anticipation of the end of the age is emphasised. Indeed, Daniel ‘lacks most of the features of apocalyptic thought’, and is considered to be one of only two complete pieces of apocalyptic literature in scripture.
