Selena Quintanilla Pérez was a very talented young woman who was murdered by her fan club president and manager, Yolanda Saldívar. She loved performing, and she loved her fans. She encouraged kids to stay in school and avoid drugs and alcohol. She had a major impact on the Latin community, and her death was devastating to everyone.

In this book, Joseph Wambaugh tells the tale of the unfortunate fate for two young cops when they encounter two petty robbers. The first half of this fascinating book, it describes their childhood, the crime, and the police work. In the second half, it describes the legal proceedings and the effect that the case had on law enforcement.

Famous pilot Charles Lindbergh became world famous for his great transatlantic flight of 1927, but since then, something strange would happen that would then change his life, his family’s life, and the entire world of crime stopping forever. Charles Lindbergh’s son was kidnapped out of nowhere at around 20 months old, and the police started a frantic search. After around 2 years, the police tracked down the possible kidnapper down to a German immigrant named Bruno Hauptmann. The entire world wanted him to be guilty, but was he really? The mystery behind the Lindbergh kidnapping could be summarized in 2 theories: he did it, or he’s innocent.

He killed over about one hundred girls from different native tribes and a native tribe caught him, buried him from the neck down in sand, beaten, and tortured him by pouring syrup all over his head to watch the ants eat him but, he managed to escape and went to Columbia then Ecuador. This became a daily routine where he would kill about two to three girls a day for about four years. Lopez said, "I like the girls in Ecuador, they are more gentle and trusting, more innocent." Even though he was poor and homeless, he was still all over the place moving from city to city murdering young girls day by day. In April 1980, four murdered children were uncovered by a flood and after the flood, he was arrested for attempting to abduct a young girl and went to prison. When he got in the prison, he was telling his cellmates all the crimes he did. Dubbed the Valley Intruder or Night Stalker, Ricardo Leyva Munoz Ramirez famously known as Richard Ramirez, struck fear through the bones of many during his serial killing spree in the mid-eighties. Ramirez killed at least fourteen people in his spree while raping and torturing many more. His criminal beginnings turned to violence in June of 1984 with his first known slaying of 79-year-old Jennie Vincow. Vincow was sexually assaulted, stabbed and ultimately killed in her home. Authorities had not yet caught Ramirez after this brutal homicide, therefore he was free to continue his spree on countless more helpless victims. Ramirez used a wide variety of weapons like guns, knives, rope, handcuffs, a tire iron, machete and a hammer on his victims.

The human connection to birds is a fascinating thing that is often depicted in stories. Humans want to be free like birds and fly away from the troubles that are present in their life. Birds reflect the image of freedom in life, so it’s no wonder that the Bald Eagle is the emblem of the United States; a country built on the principles of freedom and equality. Two famous poets by the names of Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou used the image of the bird to describe how they felt in their own life. Angelou and Dunbar show similarities when they describe feeling trapped like caged birds, but their portrayal of the birds contrast in their actions

During this time a man, a psychopath really, was terrorizing the people with his deranged antics. Atheism is a belief that there is no God or gods; Christianity is the exact opposite. Meriwether Lewis had people that were jealous of his success and position as governor of Louisiana Territory. He was traveling to Washington to resolve unpaid bills from his governorship and to publish his famous journals. Meriwether’s partner was William Clark. There was also a rumor that he had secret documents that may have implicated others in treason. Meriwether Lewis died at the Grinder’s stand at the age of 35. This question of the cause of his death has been asked for aver 200 years, but it is clear that this is murder by conspiracy.
