The study of sour orange as an alternative mosquito repellent will play a substantial role in our society. The increase in mosquito-borne diseases is a rising problem in the world especially in tropical and sub-tropical climates worldwide. Thus, defenses against mosquitoes such as mosquito repellents are needed. However, this solution results in another problem – concerns about the potential adverse health effects of insect repellents have increased. Rather than treating them as wastes and disposing them which could lead to environmental problems if disposed improperly, they may be treated further to increase its usage in the form of essential oil which if widely accepted by oil-related and insect-repellent related companies, it may also be a good alternative for insect repellents made of synthetic chemicals such as N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide or DEET. In general, the oil extracted from citrus fruit peels will give a wholly different approach that may further promote additional researches relating to oil extraction from citrus fruit peels and creation of natural insect repellents without the synthetic chemicals and the adverse side-effects they carry. Nonetheless, not only will the number of mosquito-borne diseases decrease, it will also contribute in alleviating poverty in the country as treatments from mosquito-borne diseases are usually expensive and the poor and malnourished are usually affected the most. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Department of Health (DOH) are also beneficiaries from this study as our research project and study contain useful information that will help provide WHO additional information as they handle global medical problems and the prevention and discovery of new things about health. The DOH, a Filipino governmental organization that handles the health statistics and health of the Filipinos are also beneficiaries as the information from our study will help them support the needs of Filipinos in medicinal supplies and will help increase the awareness of the dangers of mosquitoes, help in educating the people the mosquito menace in the country, how they can defend against it, and the downsides of commercial chemically-made mosquito
