Thesis 1: “Motivation drives people to better results.”
Motivation in general is the reason that drives someone to do something. Motivation at itself can be divided into extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation means that the will to learn does not arise from the task itself, more from the purpose it serves. For example studying for a math test to get a good result, not for the pleasure of solving equations.
Children often don’t like to go to school because extrinsic motivation is often used to make them study. It is a reward punishment system: when you study hard you will get good grades; do your homework or otherwise I’ll talk to your parents.
In the end the children study hard, but only to get good grades. Not for the interest in the topic itself. The outcome is that the learning is not

“ Results support the prediction that participants in the expected-award condition would show less subsequent intrinsic interest in the target activity than participants in the other condition.” (Lepper, Greene, & Nisbett, 1973)
On the other hand, intrinsic motivation is the drive to do something because of the pleasure you have while doing it. Intrinsic motivated students are simply motivated in what they are learning. What also means that they would enjoy learning, learn longer and be longer concentrated. Furthermore they would learn in a much bigger spectrum, because their interests aren’t only on one specific focus, but on the whole substance.
For example a sportsman does not only know how he has to structure his training to reach his goal. He also knows much more about his sport and other relevant topics because he likes what he is doing. All children in sports do not only know the color of their favorite teams jersey. They also know when the next game is on, the name of almost every player and the latest
Some students inadvertently slack off on their work. While many schools are trying to get their students to work harder, their parents claim that they are pushing them too hard. Some parents even claim their child has learning disabilities. These students don 't work as hard because of these excuses. As what Cepeda said in her article of "The Writing is on the Wall" "We drill kids with the idea that learning should
So many times a student gets bored of school or isn’t motivated to go to school and do their homework. Also students are very shy and don’t like asking questions about what they are learning if they
In ‘What gets students motivated to work harder? Not money’ by Matthew G. Springer, he explains how many use money to motivate children to work hard and how it doesn’t actually work. To prove this he will use his status and credibility, his information and statistics, and emotions to get us, the readers, to side with him. In his argument Springer uses ethos, logos and pathos to get you to lean towards his side.
Since the parents believe their children are passing, they don’t take an interest in their child’s studies. They allow the child to spend little time on homework and more time on other activities, such as watching television. When a child comes home with an F, then the parents will take notice. Only then will parents take an active role in their child’s education, instead of letting the schools do it all. The schools are failing the students by giving them passing grades they don’t deserve.
The depth and complexity of the human drive is something that has been studied by scholars for a long time. What makes us do what we do? What makes people get up every morning? What makes people work through pain, through trials? Motivation, as defined by Webster, is “a force of influence that causes someone to do something”.
“One scabby sheep is enough to spoil the whole flock,” and draws a bad picture of handwork. In these cases, parents have the right to put them under pressure in order to bring them back to education track. Hence, social forces are the only bridge separating themselves from their
Educational Self-Analysis As students the people who we surround ourselves with have a profound effect with our motivational level. Our surroundings can emotionally impact our life for the better or worse. By reading the article “Brainology” by Carol Dweck has also showed me the mindset I have and reflect on the way I view education. like most Parents, my Parents want to see me succeed in school since they did not have the chance to do so themselves.
Because of this students will do try for good grades in order to satisfy their parents instead of doing it for themselves to be more
noted to be getting worse. The children tend to develop a negative attitude towards schooling during their teenage. The cause of the negative attitude is attending school at an early age when they need social and psychological support from their parents. Therefore, by the time the children are thirteen, they are tired of schooling. A parent should handle parenting.
If people can’t do something, for sure they will tell you can’t do it too. And if you want something, go and get it. (Will Smith Movie Quotes That Will Motivate You Through Adversity, n.d.). Motivation can further divided into two subtypes which are intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is the motivation that comes from inner side of one self and urges him in doing something no matter what is the external reward given.
In fact, individual emotional and motivational aspects should be considered [17]. Motivation is defined as a desire to make an attempt in order to perform duties and responsibilities and to use individual skills [18]. Academic motivation refers to behaviors that lead to learning and improvement [19]. It includes the tendency to perform well and to spontaneously evaluate one's own performance. Experts have devided motivation into two main groups, namely intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
“Motivation supports leaders to achieve the objectives through goal-oriented characteristics and pushes individuals to work hard at achieving the highlighted goals. “ Is the definition of motivation according to (Anon., 2012) According to (Carter. D, 2007) there are two primary types of motivation; extrinsic and intrinsic. In the movie coach carter, Coach Ken Carter uses intrinsic motivation as he is motivated and driven by his passion for basketball.
Motivation is the force that pushes us to do things: It is a result of everyone needs being satisfied so that employees have the inspiration and ability to complete the respective task given. Most people want to improve themselves in some way, whether it is to lose weight or give up smoking or increase their confidence. Self-improvement is something that we carry out over a life time, but it is a task that can require a lot of motivation. Keeping your motivation levels up and steady can be a job in itself. In order to achieve the motivation required for self-improvement, we need to look at the three keys that will help us succeed in our goals. 1) INSPIRATION
