While motivation implies as the driving force behind all the actions of an individual which is based on emotions and achievement-related goals. Human needs and desires influence and shape his behavior according to different environments. Achievement motivation is a person’s orientation to strive for task success, persist in the face of failure, and experience the pride in accomplishment (Gill, 2000). People want to fulfill their needs and desires through different channels and are motivated to succeed because of various reasons that might be internal or external. Based on theoretical research by Murray (1938), McClelland, Atkinson, Clark, and Lowel (1953), and McClelland (1961), achievement motivation or need for achievement is said to be influenced by a combination of internal factors (personal drives and external or environmental factors including pressures) and expectations of relevant organizations and society. The individual’s need for power and need for affiliation is related to an individual’s need for achievement and overall motivation Need achievement theory (Atkinson, 1974; McClelland, 1961) takes into consideration personal and situational factors predicts human behavior. This theory comprises of five components which are as follows: personality or motives, situational factors, resultant tendencies, emotional reactions, achievement-related behavior.

According to Atkinson, it is the difference between these two motives which delivers the personality factor called achievement motivation
Situational factors explains the possibility of success and motivation value of success.
Resultant tendencies, this theory was derived by taking into account an individual’s achievement motive levels in relation to situational factors.
Emotional reactions, this theory takes into consideration how individuals react emotionally, while highlighting how much pride he/she experiences.
