A study on how society can reduce the amount of motorcycle accidents in developed and developing countries worldwide. A group of people in California conducted a study to see the relationship between gas prices and motorcycle accidents, and found that motorcycle accidents increased when gas prices rise. The author’s also noted that the price for a new motorcycle is considerably less than a new car, and that some societies have more disposable income to purchase more niceties (Zhu, Wilson, & Stimpson, 2015). The World Health Organization is also looking into this topic, and estimated in 2002 that 1.2 million people sustained life-ending injuries, and more than 50 million injured due to motorcycle accidents (Chichom-Mefire et al., 2015). With motorcycles costing less than cars, many developing countries have more motorcycles registered than cars. With developing countries, not having a large infrastructure like roads, …show more content…
Just by reducing accidents and fatalities, the amount of treatment annually will also take a big drop; the helmet study proves that alone. Showing that wearing a motorcycle helmet can save the United States $2.2 billion annually; this will also reduce the amount developing countries spend. Studies also showed that motorcycle training and experience, also make a large impact on accidents. The study from the United Kingdom that utilized a simulator showed that the more training and experience affects the way people ride a motorcycle. One of the easiest things to help reduce the fatality rate is the use of protective equipment. The study from California showed that it does not matter what type of legal helmet you wear, they all will protect you in some way. Also the addition of ABS to motorcycles make them safer as well, and like in cars the fastest way to stop is when the tires keep traction and not skid on the

If a driver opens a door for some reasons, the motorcycle rider could hit it and be knocked of the motorcycle. Another danger is left-hand turns. Making left-hand turns could cause the vehicle to clip the front of the motorcycle, knocking it over. Even in slow-moving traffic, serious injuries can result from lane splitting.
Gregg Easterbrook, a fellow of the Brookings Institution and LA Times contributor, argues in his article, “Road Kill,” that deaths on the highway roads in America is a large and ignored problem. Easterbrook argues that the cause of the deaths can be linked to horsepower and cell phone usage. The author also writes the problem is ignored, because of moral differences and the feeling that the crashes can’t be prevented. Easterbrook also writes that the fatalities are not just limited to the drivers on the road. The author writes about the increased number of fatalities of pedestrians when crossing the streets, which further adds to the argument that the problem needs to be adressed and not ignored like it currently is (1-2).
The highway system depended on people buying cars and allowing them to travel long
Dirt Bike Catastrophe Some four years ago on a small loop road, county road 355, hidden somewhere in the weeds was a convolution maze of dirt bike trails. It couldn’t have been but six months since my step brother, Austin and I started riding dirt bikes daily. We were nothing short of motocross eligible teenagers, jumping feet off the ground, sliding every turn, and being so dirty at the end of the day that two showers were necessary. All of these things changed very suddenly in a wreck that changed our lives.
Safety of Skiers and Snowboarders Ski helmets are definitely better to be worn than not to be worn or to say it's better to safe rather than sorry. Helmets have saved lives of bicyclists, skateboarders, skaters and others because they are required to be worn. People who have gotten in accidents while wearing helmets were most likely very thankful that they were wearing a helmet. Although these type of accidents do not necessarily happen to you, they do happen on a daily basis and come very unexpectedly, even on the slopes. I believe that there should be law that requires people to wear helmets when snow-skiing and snowboarding, no matter the age, because it is for their safety and to avoid extreme consequences if not worn.
This first started with the building of toll roads. While it is difficult to measure the economic impact that these roads played, they were a critical

If some of those people involved were to wear seatbelts because stricter laws were enforced, these medical expenses could possibly drop, costing the U.S. much less yearly. The injuries caused by people not using their seatbelts could be avoided, resulting in less money being spent on medical treatment for injuries that could have been avoided by buckling a seatbelt. In the long run, stricter seatbelt laws in all the states could save taxpayers and family members of those hurt a lot of money in medical bills. Not only would these laws save lives, they could potentially save people a lot of
Introduction I. I. According to the American Automobile Association, about 8 % of teenagers drive, and are involved about 15% of fatal crashes. II. Traffic crashes is one of reason causes death and injury for young ages from 15 to 19.
A sad reality of Americans today is the mentality that individuals carry that nothing bad will ever happen to them, I won’t get cancer, I won’t have my personal information stolen, or I won’t get into an accident. In actuality, bad things happen to everyone, very often they are completely unexpected and if you were not prepared, you will soon wish that you had been. When it comes to motorcycle crashes, no one ever expects to be involved in one, and anyone who is seriously injured in one while not wearing helmet or safety gear, sure wishes that they had been. Most importantly, motorcycle helmets save lives and prevent people from minor and serious injuries. Motorcycle specific clothing, such as a leather jacket, kevlar padded pants, boots and gloves also prevent against serious or minor injuries.
I was finally stepping outside my comfort zone learning to ride a bike. The most memorable time in my life was the time my dad taught me how to ride my first bike. At the age of six he taught me the basics of riding a bike. Along with rules that were set in order to help me be responsible with my bike. I learned to ride a bike without training wheels.
