Bring it On: All or Nothing The film I chose to watch is the third installment of the Bring It On series, which are all mostly unrelated stories loosely held together by the thread of cheerleading as a main plot point. I went with the third movie, released in 2006, because it attempts to have something to say about race, and was actually written by a black woman, though whether it survived rewrites and succeeds or not is to be questioned later. The basic plot is that the lead character, Britney, is the captain of the cheerleading squad at a very white, suburban school called Pacific Vista.
The entire family is forced to live up to the traditional gender roles that they do not agree with which creates a great deal of dysfunction. As a result, Patrice feels as though she is drowning in despair trying to live up to the expectations of being a good wife and mother while setting aside her own wants and desires. She is trying desperately to remain neutral regarding Liam’s sexuality and to hold her family together. For many years, Liam has been hiding and suppressing his feelings to transition and only confides in Regan for fear of being a disappointment to his father. Regan is caught in between trying to be a supportive sister and confidant for Liam while also trying to navigate her teenage years and be an obedient daughter.

This time the gang tries to beat them up but this time they have a new strategy.

This action causes the boys to go into a savage frenzy , screaming, yelling, and mass chaos, all because Jack told them to do their dance. Their dance turned into ritual killing where all the boys, including Jack, ruthlessly stabbed and beat Simon repeatedly to death. Jack had caused the mass chaos and if he had never done that, Simon would still be alive and not a corpse at the bottom of the ocean. Jack and his tribe committed murder and only Ralph recognized it for what it was: “that was murder…. I wasn’t
