This, to me, is the concept of family. Through interactions with our society and my own
I believe that family is the first community one partakes in, and therefore is a source for the deepest connections one could have in life. Parallel to Antigone,
Family gives everyone the love and support needed to have more meaning in life. Every family does not have to be connected by blood. Family can be created by caring strongly for one another. Ishmael Beah had a big family that consisted of his birth parents, two brothers and his friend Talloi. During the war, Ishmael was separated from his family.
I’ve lived in Montgomery, Alabama for as long as I can remember. I’ve never lived anywhere else, but I 'm glad that I have gotten to see more than just Montgomery. I feel like Montgomery is a very historic city because Rosa parks and Martin Luther King Jr. lived here. I always thought that this was a very cool place to live and learn about my surroundings. When I was little I lived in apartments called Highland Village, where I met my best friends.
The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. In life, there is a universal desire for oneness among people—we want to belong. It is why we collaborate, support common causes, cheer for sports teams, feel nationalism; it’s why we build villages, towns, and cities. Families are where we connect ourselves in relationships to past, current, and future generations. For many, family is not only a blessing, but our greatest accomplishment.
The word “family” has different meanings for everyone. For some “family” can mean both parents – mom and dad. Others might have seen one of their parents walk out. Some have felt the burns of divorce. Still others grew up with just knowing one parent and not ever questioning where their other parent was.
Family... What is the meaning of the word family. Family is a group of people that are related to you. But family to me is much more than that. Family doesn't always mean they are related to you, it means people like friends for example that are always there when you need them.
Have you ever felt uncomfortable, nervous, and confused ? These are all the things I felt moving to a new school. I had no idea if I would gain friends or if anyone would like me. Maybe if I had a tour around the new school before my first day I would have not been so disorientated. Going from a one story school to a two story school was hard, having to look down every five seconds to make sure I was on the right hall, or if I was suppose to be upstairs or downstairs.
I define family as people who are loyal they can reprimand you and you still feel that love and are always there for you. My mom, dad, grandma who we call Dear on my mom’s side of the family and my MomMom and PopPop on my dad’s side of the family my aunts and uncles and cousins and I call my closest friends brothers and sisters because of what we been through together how we care for each and treat one another and that’s like and brother or sister would treat each other. A family tradation I have is to go to a family members house every summer for a family reunion so that everyone keeps in contact and all the kids and adults know their nieces and nephews and kids meet great grandparents and meet cousins they’ve never met before. My family is full of devout Mormons. From my ancestors who fled to Utah in the 1850s down to my own parents, nearly all of them were sure to pass their beliefs down to their kin. Mormon culture was possibly the biggest influence on my childhood and adolescence, and my family took the religion very seriously. Early on in my life, however, I started to see the cracks in the ideology. I realized that I did not believe in the church, but kept it to myself.
Alabama Trip My mom and and dad told me in December that we were going to Gulf Shores, Alabama to visit my grandparents. Gulf Shores is the southernmost town in Alabama, located on the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I have been there twice when I was little. I remember that I collected seashells and went swimming with Boppa in the pool.
I do not have a constricted view of family because I have been growing up in a time period where the idea of family is more important than the physical depiction of a family. As long as a family cares for, loves, and supports one another, then they are a family. The reason that I hold family to such a high esteem is because growing up in the Midwest, family is one of the most important values that a person has. In addition to family some other important values are hard work, kindness, and respect.
Family unity is an essential part of my life. My family in many ways works like a team. When I hear the word family, I think of the adjectives loving, caring, supportive, closeness, and chaotic. My family is all of the above. No family is the same, mine is definitely unique.
“Family” is a hard word to create a concrete definition for. If one were to ask three random people on the street, it is likely they will receive three completely different answers to defining a family. The textbook definition of family according to the etymology dictionary is: “Origin in early 15c. “servants of a household” from Latin familia “family servants, domestics collectively, the servants in a household.” The traditional dictionary describes family in a more narrow fashion stating, “a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.”
