Although the prosecution claims he is guilty, they are wrong because the rat poison is only available to exterminators and Mr. Alfaro is one, Mrs. Reid thought that she would inherit his wealth, and Mr. Adams has bad eyesight. Reid thought that if Mr. Adams died, then because she is the only one in his family she would inherit the wealth. Mrs. Reid believed that if Mr. Adams were to die, then she would inherit his wealth. Mrs. Reid had a history of spreading rumors about Mr. Adams. Mrs. Reid invited Mr. Alfaro to the party and they were seen whispering throughout the night. Mrs. Reid has a reason to kill Mr. Adams for his wealth, and she had an exterminator with her that can handle the rat poison. Finally, Mr. Adams might have killed himself by accident because he has bad eyesight. Mrs. Swanson said that Mr. Adams had bad eyesight, and had trouble reading labels. The box of rat poison was found right next to where the sugar was. If Mr. Adams had a hard time seeing the labels then that means he could have misread the label on the rat poison and chose it instead of the sugar. The reasons and evidence all conclude that Mr. Bennet did not murder Mr. Adams. Mr. Alfaro is an exterminator and the rat poison is only available to exterminators, Mrs. Reid thought if Mr. Adams died then she would have all the money he owned and his new mansion, and Mr. Adams could have killed himself because of his bad eyesight.
