In A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold- hearted man, continues his greedy ways on Christmas Eve. He declines a dinner invitation from his nephew, Fred; he yells at a Gentlemen Visitor; and is rude his employee, Bob Cratchit. At night, Scrooge's former partner Jacob Marley, who has been dead for seven years, visits him. Marley tries to warn Scrooge to not be as greedy as he once was. Later, the Spirit of Christmas Past, Spirit of Christmas Past, and Spirit of Christmas Present visit.
“Christmas is a Humbug” he says. The drama “A Christmas Carol” is about a man named who has a nasty attitude about Christmas. He is a greedy man who doesn’t want to donate anything to the poor and sick. He thinks that Christmas is a waste of time and money.

At the beginning of the novel “A Christmas carol” Scrooge can be interpreted as an archetypal villain (an extreme stereotype of a villain), this is inferred when Dickens describes Scrooge as an “old sinner”. The quote “old sinner” links in with the description of a villain as a sinner often someone who commits immoral acts regularly whilst disregarding Christian doctrine, considering the time the book was published (1800) committing a sin was a villainous act to do; therefore implying to the reader that Scrooge is a going to be a villainous character throughout the novel. In the first stave of Christmas Carol I think a theme is hate. Scrooge obviously doesn’t like Christmas, but dislikes those who even talk about it. When his nephew came in he said “merry christmas uncle Scrooge and may God save you!” This quote was on page 3. His nephew, obviously tries to get along with his uncle, but Scrooge refuses to cooperate.
The theme of this stave is greed, Scrooge's greed. He cares only about himself and his money. He hates the poor and anyone with less money than him. Scrooge hates and ignores anyone who is joyful and loves Christmas. He’ll even go to the extreme of hating his family.
