I expect to graduate from Northeastern Illinois University with High Honors, in May 2018 and I will be the first in my immediate family to obtain any college degree. An education at the University at Buffalo would be a major factor in reaching my goals on multiple levels. Being able to learn practical techniques from some of the best faculty in the field, at an internationally renowned institution, will make my knowledge base infinitely larger provide me with the skills to conduct credible research. Studying at a university that expects the most from its students is one of the challenges I will embrace and one that will prepare me for an accomplished future. Additionally, the MSW/Ph.D. Advanced Standing option will allow me to build on my existing BSW knowledge and earn my degree more quickly. As a future independent scientific researcher and organizational leader, the university at Buffalo will give me the supervisory, managerial and administrative skills I will need to run an organization. It will also provide a gateway to my future Ph.D. in social work, which I intend to pursue due to my passion for community-based research. …show more content…

I am ready to move directly into MSW/Ph.D. study following my BSW. After completing my doctorate, I shall start my own organization and conduct independent research that will bring about positive change in the Personally, I have now been in Chicago for four years, and I established a strong community that supports me in continuing my education.
