The Overland Campaign was a decisive moment in the Civil War: it was a strategic victory for the Union, but consisted of heavy losses on both sides. In just 40 days, the Union lost 55,000 men. The Confederates lost 36,000 men, but with an army roughly half of the Union’s to begin with, their losses were proportionally much greater. The final battle of the campaign, Cold Harbor, led to extremely high losses on both sides, but was a defensive victory for Lee. Anti-war sentiments grew in the North and Grant was labeled “the butcher.” Despite the high losses, Grant knew this is what had to happen in order to achieve the North’s strategic objectives in the war.

President Nixon helped our environment threefold during his presidency. Unfortunately, the majority of U.S. citizens either do not notice or do not care about these changes. Even though Richard Nixon was held responsible for the Watergate Scandal ,he did many things that have a big impact on the environment today. Before he resigned from office, Richard Nixon enacted the Clean Air Act of 1970 and founded the Environmental Protection Agency. Richard Nixon did many other great deeds that benefit the environment that we live in today.
Normally this would not have even fazed Geronimo or gave him the second thought of surrendering but his followers and fellow Apaches were way too exhausted from the constant sequence of events that happened prior to the surrendering to be bale to keep fighting for their land and their human rights. He showed greater leadership surrendering that day than he could’ve if he kept on fighting, knowing that his people would go down with him if he had not have surrendered. His story is important to know because it is not only American history, it is part of the Atlantic world which pertains to Canada as well who also had and still has Indigenous people fighting for their land rights. This is another example of Indigenous people and culture being colonized and
This was a very bold attempt due to the fact that there was little knowledge about the conditions on the summit and what the route would be like. Mallory and his climbing partner never made it back and his body was found in 1999 by a commercial expedition team. Almost 30 years later in 1953, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary reached the summit of Mount Everest for the first time in history. Norgay was a Sherpa from India who had made it to the South Summit, just below the summit of Everest, one year prior. He and another British climber were turned away because of a harsh ice storm, forcing them to retreat.
Some of the Lions and Tigers fans are super loyal to the game and their team. The teams all have thousands of year to year season ticket holders, and the high school teams have a lot of season pass holders also. It is estimated that billions of dollars are earned every year in the gun business through firearms, revolvers shotguns that are manufactured each year and the millions of jobs that the industry creates each year is very beneficial for the economy. What most people do not see, however, is the negative economic impact of guns and gun violence and what little has been done since the Brady Bill to change any of the circumstances. Webster et. al. Joe Montana is one of the most influential quarterbacks of the late twentieth century. Joe Montana, or Joe Cool as some called him, won four superbowl rings. He received the nickname for always being calm under pressure. He was the king of fourth quarter comebacks, leading over thirty game winning drives in his career, including a famous one in the superbowl of 1989. On that drive, he spotted the actor John Candy in the stands and decided to point it out in the huddle, right before leading his team 92 yards and throwing the game winner with thirty four seconds left in the game.
