Within Much Ado About Nothing, the two plots: the romance between Claudio and Hero and the tough spots between Benedick and Beatrice. The use of prose not only exemplified the playful nature between Benedick and Beatrice, but also proved that they really did have a genuine love. They finally speak in verse when they admit their love, switching to the more serious tone proves that they were done fooling around, and they wreally meant it when they said they loved each other.
Beatrice breaks the mold of a typical woman’s role is in Shakespeare’s plays. Usually the women are subservient and submissive to the men in their lives, but Beatrice challenges that role. She spoke whatever she thought and did not hold back; her informality was aided by the use of prose.
Prose is ordinary speech. It has no regulated rhyme or patterns os stress, and it usually is used with wordplay or jokes. Verse, on the other hand, is much more formal and is used to convey more complex emotions. Since Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy, Shakespeare used prose for the majority of the play. In contrast to the other characters, Benedick and Beatrice speak in prose, whereas Claudio, Leonato, and Don Pedro talk mostly in verse.

The audience gets to witness two drastically different types of relationships. Claudio and Hero are much more formal; Claudio decided to marry Hero not because they were in love, but because she was pretty and wealthy. Their love may be formal, but could be suspected to be insincere. Their talk in verse may be more official, but their love is not that strong. On the contrary, Benedick and Beatrice are completely informal when they speak in prose, but their love is definitely authentic. Speaking in prose suggests comedy and wordplay, but in the end proved that Benedick and Beatrice had a more sincere love than Hero and
