The first murders that are seemingly connected to the Zodiac are the murders of 2 high school students. On December 20th 1968, on Lake Herman road shortly after 11:00 the bodies of Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday were found. The Arthur of Zodiac, Robert Graysmith suggested that a car pulled into the turnout and parked next to the couple, just before 11:00. Jensen exited the car first and when Faraday was about halfway out, Faraday was shot in the head. He was wearing an executioner styled black hood with clip on sunglasses and a bib on his chest with a white circle with a cross through it. He had a gun and told Shepard to tie up Hartnell. The killer tightened Hartnell’s restraints before tying up Shepard. The killer then took out a knife and stabbed them both multiple times. After the killer drew the circle with a cross through it symbol on Hartnell’s car and wrote under it, “Vallejo/12-20-68/7-4-69/sept 27-69-6:30/by knife.” After the killer had called the Napa county Sheriff’s office at 7:40 pm from a pay phone. Paul Stine drove a block past the original destination, and the passenger shot the driver once in the head with a 9mm Luger pistol and took his keys and wallet and took a piece of Stine’s bloodstained shirt. The killer was seen by 3 teens across the street at approximately 9:55 pm. 2 blocks away from the scene 2 officers saw a white male walking on the sidewalk and walking onto a stairway leading to one of the houses. Stephanie Crowe was 12 years old when she was found murdered. On January 21, 1998 Stephanie's grandma Judith Kennedy woke up to an alarm coming from Stephanie’s room that wasn’t turned off. Judith went to see why Stephanie wasn’t shutting it off. At 6:30am Stephanie Crowe was found murdered in her room, stabbed 9 times. The day after the body was found, police found a bloody bandana 100 yards from the Morton’s house at a constructions site. Christine’s mother told the police that Morton’s son, Eric was present during the murder. The son told his grandmother that his dad, Michael Morton was not there, He specifically said, “Daddy was not home” and described the murderer as a monster. When police questioned Morton’s neighbors, they were told that a man had repeatedly parked a green van behind Morton’s house street and that he walked off into a nearby wooded area. 12- 19- 2014 somewhere around 2400 and 0600 hours I Det. Scott Demeester was dispatched to 1710 Madrona Street. I was called in to investigate a homicide case. The victim was discovered tucked under a sheet in a vacant home in Atlanta Georgia.

Wayne Williams was sentenced to two consecutive life terms on February 27, 1982 for the murder of Nathaniel Cater and Jimmy Ray Payne. Out of the 28-30 victims only two victims were linked with Williams, Nathaniel Cater, a convicted felon, and Jimmy Ray Payne, an ex-convict.
Javier Villada was an employee of Millardair, in the early years before the murder, the one truck in Millard’s fleet that could tow that amount of weight was the one that Javier possessed. The police also found photos of guns. These were located on both the pairs phones and personal computers. A gun expert by the name of Christiane Lys has testified to both the judge and jury that the shot was definitely in close range and the gun had to be a Walther PPK .380-calibre handgun. Her evidence matched the photo, police seized from Millard’s home of him holding the same gun.

The murders took place back in November 2010. Five years later state prosecutors are arguing that Herring shot Flisk and Peters to cover up a burglary he'd committed hours earlier. The Zodiac Killer was one of the most elusive copycat killers in the history of the United States. The Zodiac was eventually figured out to be Heriberto Seda after he tried to kill his half-sister and had a shoot off with multiple police officers (Fried, Joseph). The Zodiac Killer was one of the biggest fears of citizens of the United States during the 60’s, because of both his ability to evade the police and also generate media attraction through sending letters and calling the police to give them hints, and locations, of his murders. The Zodiac Killer, Heriberto Seda, had an interesting childhood, to say the least.
The detectives, interviewed on “THS Investigates: Serial Killers on the loose”, stated the victims were either hitchhiking or in an isolated location late at night, such as a rest stop. The youngest victim was 17 years old and the oldest victim was 37 years old. The cause of death for the victims was stabbing; each one had at least 20 stab wounds. The killer’s signature on each victim included a cut to the throat. The detectives stated the cut to the throat was intended to disable the victim.
