There are very few activities that utilize the entire brain, and music is one of them. Music can bring people to tears or it can make people super excited. Although music is extremely good for young brains, not all kids take the opportunity. Music pushes creativity for kids that they would not receive on a regular basis. Kids should need to take two years of music class because music helps with academics, behavior, and mood.

Music education has been proved to help kids with speech and comprehension, “For example, kids who learned how to play a musical instrument showed stronger language skill then students who took music appreciation classes” (Dovey 1). Playing and learning an instrument allows you to see things differently because reading music, in a way is like learning another language, so if interpreting music is easy, reading and speaking should be easier too. Science has shown that playing an instrument helps kids distinguish different sounds that kids would not normally hear (Locker 1). Hearing different sounds helps kids develop neurophysiological distinction between certain sounds. Neurophysiological distinction can help kids in literacy because consonants and vowels will become clearer due to using different parts of your mouth to play the instrument, and once consonants and vowels become clearer the brain can make more sense of the words you are speaking and reading
As well as being a form of expression it has also been linked to helping with boosting one’s self-confidence and motivation inside and outside the classroom. A student getting involved in art programs, drama clubs, or music programs are activating and stimulating a part of the brain that correspond with retaining information which can be a benefiting factor in helping other subjects. Studies have shown that kids who listened to music such as Mozart had a higher IQ than kids who did not. Study after study proves that the arts have been linked to helping develop a young mind and can be used for so much more than a way for someone to express their feelings. I do believe that music clears my mind and makes me happy no matter what emotion I have before I listen. It has a certain superpower that can change someone from sad to happy or from depressed to proud in a few minutes if you listen to the right songs or genre. I know that just turning on a song that someone likes can make their day. Music has enough power to get someone to get up and dance and that is special. It can power athletes, singers, actors, doctors, teachers, and anyone.
Why are schools cutting music programs? A little girl, just entering 5th grade, really confused about who she is and where she belongs in the world. She sits on the back of the bus with her friends, when one of them pulls out their clarinet, even though it’s against the rules. The little girl then takes the clarinet and begins to attempt to play it, completely surprising her when she can.
The students should be able to listen to music in school because it had good qualities about. I know that you don’t want to have music in the school, but some students need it. Music can be helpful for studying, for working, and sometimes for test taking. For this project on music I looked up reasons why we should have music. I hope that you will let us listen to music again.
Younger generations are inseparable from their headphone but when asked about music, they become soundless and grow distant. In “Can Music Save Your Life,” college professor Mark Edmundson describes his studies of how music affects the mind and concludes that music makes the generation feel like their voices are heard through the lyrics. He believes that people use music to escape our fears, reality, and to soothe ourselves. When individuals listen to a specific song that opens a door in their minds, they tend to listen to the song repeatedly until it has no effect anymore and the door closes. Music makes people search further into themselves and they begin to flourish through every lyric, every note, and every instrument played in the song.

This therapy brings back the forgotten memories that were once lost to certain mental disorders including Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Music provides an escape from the stressed mind and brings a positive light to the patient’s life. Physical complications are fixed from the mental portion, and medicine has improved tremendously from the efforts brought by music.

Language skills are developed when children are listening to a wide range of songs which all have new words for the child to expand their language. Listening skills are also developed, music can encourage children to pay attention and listen to what is going on around them. Children’s long and short term memory skills are also developed as the child will try and remember the words of the song or nursery rhymes or the beat to clap along to.

First and foremost, it may seem typical but music really can make you happy. Besides, music also can enhance your performance during a workout. Last but not least, music can be a factor to improve sleep quality.
Mainly, listening to music has the ability to boost up a person’s mood instantaneously, affecting a person inner mind where different negative thoughts feed on a person’s abhorrence. For an example, listening to music while driving can positively rock mood instantly. In addition, listening to music can have a largely effect on a person’s minds and a person’s body. Later, listening to music also reduces stress, anxiety and depression that lead a person becoming calm and soothing. Some experts said music really does help people lead to a better mood and get in touch with their feelings.
