Music teaching Strategies A teaching strategy is the method used to deliver information in the classroom, online, or in some other medium. There is no one best strategy; teachers can select from several instructional strategies for just about any subject. Also teaching strategies should vary depending on the discussion is all about.
Activity
Teachers should provide motivational activity for the students to be excited about the topic. Szymborska (1996) said that, there is, has been and will always be certain group of people whom inspiration visits. Someone or some other people will always be inspiring people. In sum educators are the key to open the close minds of his/her students with regards to the topic to be discussed and so the teacher should have motivational games for the benefit of giving students

Thus, all the students in the classroom has variety of learning styles so the teacher has to provide an activity which relates to the teaching of music that targets their best way of learning. It is one way of making them interested to the topic or to the music education.
Involving students to community Involving students to the community is one way of making them realize that music is not limited within the four walls of the classroom but engaging them to the community. The teacher must encourage their students to join some music related activities e.g. orchestra, choir, rock band and etc. Basically this is the best application educators can provide for their learners to be more into the field of music
Suggestions to the Educators Educators of music education must be a graduate of education major in music or generally graduate of music and arts. This will provide good quality of music education. Also teachers must apply the different strategies or they innovate some strategies that will encourage and motivates students to learn more about
Music is more than that it’s something beautiful produced based on the musicians. For example when we play in class when you feel the emotion and the feeling of playing it’s just so wonderful. Music is the way kids and people show their emotions although even on a bad day we try to play well because we do not want to be the big mess up in class. Music to me is the beginning of my passion. As students, we engage in learning through a more interactive and exciting learning experience.
Spain Elementary/Middle School in Detroit is facing an issue of missing a musician teacher. As shown in the video, “Life Inside Detroit Public Schools” the school has all the necessary accessories to have a music class or even a legitimate band. Even though it’s an extracurricular, developing student’s early interests is beneficial for youth’s future. “Being on a team, in an orchestra, or in the cast of a play typically involves being a member of a general category (e.g., soccer player, percussionist), and participants are typically given specific roles to fulfill. These experiences promote the values of universalism and specificity (respectively).”
Why are schools cutting music programs? A little girl, just entering 5th grade, really confused about who she is and where she belongs in the world. She sits on the back of the bus with her friends, when one of them pulls out their clarinet, even though it’s against the rules. The little girl then takes the clarinet and begins to attempt to play it, completely surprising her when she can.
The students should be able to listen to music in school because it had good qualities about. I know that you don’t want to have music in the school, but some students need it. Music can be helpful for studying, for working, and sometimes for test taking. For this project on music I looked up reasons why we should have music. I hope that you will let us listen to music again.
Music education provides personal benefits to students that enrich their lives. In the study of perceived benefits of music by Dimitra Kokotsaki and Susan Hallam, it was found that “participating in an ensemble enhanced feelings of self-achievement for the study’s participants, assisted individuals in overcoming challenges, built self-confidence, and raised determination to make more effort to meet group expectations regarding standards of playing” (12). In an ensemble, every member is equally important, from the first chair to the last chair. Thus every person must be able to play all of their music and be ready for anything. When one person does not practice their music and comes to rehearsal unprepared, it reflects upon the whole ensemble.
Since, music is considerable as the useful tool and it makes things seems easier for people just by listening to it while concentrating or working on things. It is obvious that music is the best tool in relieving from stress and one study shows that music improves the performance of people at their work or children in school more effectively compared to their performance without music. Music does not just relaxing people but there are many benefits on the development of children with their brain, behavior, intellectual and cognitive that leads children to grow further than they could without music (Silberg, n.d.). This topic was interesting to work and conduct researches on because
It is a viable tool for addressing the maximum participation of the child and can be a catalyst to ensure effective learning. Effective teachers use an array of teaching strategies because there is no single, universal approach that suits all situations. Different strategies used in different combinations with different groupings of students will improve learning outcomes. Some strategies are better suited to teaching skills and fields of knowledge than others. Some strategies are better suited to certain student backgrounds, learning styles and
In many public schools, music education programs are being terminated, due to budget cuts and governmental program reforms; while some believe that the arts are secondary to courses such as math and science, it has been proven that musical education helps students to improve skills such as project management, team building, effective time management, leadership, cooperation and collaboration. Due to the fact that the benefits reaped from music education overwhelm any negatives associated with it, music education programs should be kept in public schools. Music education has been quite prevalent in the United States for quite some time. Public education first began in the United States in the 1800s and Philadelphia and Boston were among the
Imagination can be developed when children are creating their own musical instruments as the child can discover the different sounds of different materials they use. Some children are appealed to music because of the variety of sounds the instruments can make. (Campbell et al, 2010). Music develops the artistic awareness, self-expression, self-growth, self-esteem and multicultural sensitivity which all forms part of the holistic development of the
Through this activity, the teachers assure that the learners are able to participate fully in the curriculum. As the supports given by the teacher the learners allow them to transfer their skills and knowledge to
The arts in education can impact a person 's success in education. “A well-rounded educational experience that includes the arts is closely linked to academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and equitable opportunity” (Velasco). Adding fine arts into the educational experience has strong benefits in and outside of the classroom. Studying the lyrics of music can teach students about syllabification, phonics, vocabulary, imagery, history, myths, folktales, geography, and culture.
The motivational psychology researchers discovered several useful approaches and practices that can be implemented in the classroom for effective learning to take place (Miller, 2012). Teachers are using differentiation to support teaching and learning. Differentiation can vary in pace, activities, resources, teaching and learning styles in an attempt to best meet the needs of individual student. Various teaching strategies such as cooperative learning, active learning, role play and games and pedagogic tools are being integrated in educational theories in meaningful and useful ways to encourage task or learning achievements.
From this, it can be said that to Filipinos, music is more than just a means of entertainment; it is a way to communicate emotions, to tell stories, and to express feelings. This is especially the case in times of crisis, the most significant instance being during the Martial Law period in the 1970s. This dissertation aims to discuss the role of music during this period. In particular, how was music used as a vehicle to supplement change in this period?
According to Dr. Jose Rizal “Ang kabataan ang siyang pag-asa ng bayan” that’s why education should be plan wisely. Having a good quality of education is having a powerful community; if people in the community are educated then economy will be better. If we want to have a better economy of coarse we should have knowledge and skillful graduates that industry needs. To meet the goal we must improve our education system and the key to that is to implement and support k-12 K-12 was implementing starting 2011 and by 2013 president Aquino signed the k-12 into law, adding 3 years to country basic education curriculum.
TRADITIONAL TEACHING METHODS TO TEACH WITHN THE CONTEXT OF HIGHER EDUCATION Teaching methods refers to the general principles, pedagogy and management strategies used to classroom instruction. The choice to teaching methods depends on what fits educational philosophy, classroom demographic, subject area and school mission statement. The teaching theories can be arrangement into four categories and based on two major parameters- a teacher centred approach versus and a student –centred approach, and high tech material use versus low-tech material use. TEACHER-CENTRED APPROACH TO LEARNING Taken to its most extreme interpretation, teachers are the main figure in a teacher-centred instruction model.
