So how will being an active member of the band contribute to my success at Penn State? The simplest answer is that being in the band proved to be the “key” in unlocking my drive to be something. Since the start of my freshman year of high school I worked so hard to be an excellent musician and to achieve a leadership position in the future years. As the years progressed, I managed to earn not one, but four leadership positions, and qualify to participate in many band festivals.
Joining band had an immense and almost immediate impact on my life. Before being in band I had never had a talent that I felt completely confident in. I enjoyed practicing and spent many hours trying to improve my musical ability. In
I could never imagine my life without the sport of cheerleading. Cheer has taught me not only determination, but how to balance everything, from school to managing high grades. I decided to join my first allstar cheerleading team, at Midwest Cheer Elite, in 2012. When I first joined, I based on a youth level 2 team, and with the help of my coaches and supportive athletes, I was able to fly on a senior 5 team, my last year. I decided to take a break from allstar cheer, because I missed being involved in
Throughout my whole experience at Centennial, I have always wanted to join the National Junior Honor’s Society, so I feel very honored to have this opportunity to apply. Last semester, I was part of our school’s Student Council. Being in that group allowed me to see how important leadership is in our daily lives, in and outside of school. I also learned a whole lot about service, considering we had to complete one hour every week. All of these things are important, but the thing that I thought spoke to me personally was this year’s theme.
College Essay Topic C Throughout high school, I have been involved in many different organizations that have made a huge impact in my life. Both swimming and band has taught me that no matter what you do in life, as long as you believe and work hard, you will get through anything that life throws at you. Joining my high school’s marching band is probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I would participate in the university's marching band. I have found a positive environment and happiness in marching band, and I could never see myself quitting. During a football game, or a simple 3 hour practice, I can forget about my outside problems and focus on what I love to do: band.
One specific event that come to my mind that I am most proud of is leading my marching band for national championships inside of Met Life Stadium. With hundreds of fans cheering for the Central Bucks South Marching Titans, a feeling of pride had consumed me in a way I never felt before. During the freshman year of high school, I noticed that there are monthly school events that take place during lunch time and so, I would always visit them and have a great time. An example of a popular school event would be Back to School Blast. At this event, students can play games, such as water dunk, sumo wrestling and watch live musical performances. As time passed, I always wondered who ran these events because they always turned out fantastic and it seemed very enjoyable to organize. At first, I thought it was a club so, I went around asking other students if they know how I can join it.
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
Throughout high school I have been very involved in my choir program. Music has always inspired and intrigued me. I decided to audition for Colorado All-state choir my junior year. I had to learn a solo and practice many other aspects of being a well-rounded vocalist. When I auditioned I was very nervous but it was nothing compared to the pain I felt of not making it two months later.
The emotion I felt the most for this chapter was joy. I felt joy in this chapter was because Sam got to go to access med with Rameck. They both got to meet new people at that university and go out to party. I got to admit they had their ruff times while going but they go through it by keep on going. They were saddened by George not going to the same school but at least they knew he will do fine at the school he would be going to.
On account of his strength on the
I’m at home on the high school parking lot. It’s the only space the administration grudgingly affords our marching band, and yet it’s ours. The band family lives and thrives off people supporting each other, we are there for each other when no one else is. I was elected by this family to be their band president last spring, and I have been completely changed. Despite the flashy title, I am still just one member of this 140 strong group, and I am still pushing to fulfill the responsibility placed on my shoulders.
