Desideratum
Charles R. Swindoll once said, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” (Swindoll). Life is your own hero's journey, full of tasks and trials. It will throw curveballs at you to try to throw you off the path you wish to follow. In my hero journey, my desideratum kept me on the right path. A desideratum is a guiding belief that help you through your journey of life.
My desideratum is that you have to lose to know how to win. Personally, this helped me to realize that you can't succeed without going through hardships. That life isn't always just a stroll through the park. Actually I find it to be quite the opposite. Jon Krakauer once said, “It's easy when you're young, to believe that what you desire is no less than what you deserve…”

With friends and relationships, toxic people will try to come into your life and try to make it absolute hell. Some sick people look for ways to destroy your will to live and the worst part is you could've done nothing to them. They get it in their twisted head that you're the bad person and that you deserve this, but there comes a point where you have to step back and understand that no, you're not a terrible person and you deserve better. My desideratum encourages the challenges in life because in the end you'll be stronger. Although, saying this is one thing but, maintaining it is a whole other thing.
To maintain my desideratum, I intend on staying positive and doing what I want no matter the outcome or who will support me. People and sometime just life in general will try to get in the way. People will tell you that you won't make it or that you'll never become something, but the decision is up to you. There comes a time when you have to stop caring and remove yourself from situations. Anyone who doesn't support you is toxic and you don't deserve that negativity. Your guiding belief will help you get through these
Everyone has had that one life lesson or moral that they have learned one time or another. It might be “don’t judge a book by it’s cover,” or “when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. ” Mine happened to be “winning isn’t everything.” I learned my important life lesson on May 6, 2017. I remember the bright lights and the roaring crowd as my team and I walked on stage for what would be my last cheerleading competition.
John Wooden once said “failure is not fatal but failure to change might be”(John Wooden Quote.) Wooden was addressing the idea that one only fails if they do not change after messing up. I never fully understood that principle until I attempted the FFA Creed Career Development Event. After not giving all that I could during the contest, I experienced the worst defeat of my FFA career. I had always thought that Wooden’s statement was only inspire those who had lost, but through personal failures I have learned otherwise.
“There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time,” Malcolm X, and activist overcame adversity by learning from his defeat. Adversity affects our world today too. With our harsh rules and drive to be better, one must strive to succeed and overcome the hardships. While there are many qualities needed to overcome adversity, having faith, keeping composure, and receiving support are vital in order to overcome adversity.
I have chosen to take any negative experiences as future motivation to succeed. This has helped me to better appreciate not only the joy of winning, but also the hard work and devotion that goes into it. By doing this I am able to make more confident choices, accept the ideas of others, and inspire my peers to see the important opportunities that coincide with "failure" as well. Every day we are affected by actions, both our own and by those of others. It is how a person chooses to react to these actions (whether they are considered to be a success or failure) that reveals and shapes true
and you will have what you seek. Your redemption is before you. I know you remember when God blocked the sun from shining and caused the moon to turn red as a sign and worked miracles against your enemies. He wanted to prove His word that you are the chosen and to endorse holiness and devotion. See what a calamity it will be for you to lose what you have longed to have because you choose to be one of the crowd.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma- which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other's opinions drown out of your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow you're heart and intuition,” (Steve Jobs). You should do the right thing and never give up.
I woke up in a dark room with a massive headache that beat like a drum. I slowly got up and tried to remember what happened. I remember a huge storm that ravaged the west coast, then a space-ship came down and started to abduct people. “Oh no, I have been abducted!” I screamed to myself.
It can ruin friendships and families. If things aren’t going your way you need to think about the good days and not dwell in all of the
The Mississippi never freezes over. I guess that’s why everybody claimed it to be a miracle. I was already missing the Beautiful City by the time my new leather boots set foot on the frozen river. Months before the journey Momma was already sewing us new clothes and saving her coins to purchase us boots from the tailor. Leaving Nauvoo, was one of the hardest things I’ve done.
Each person has their own unique culmination of experiences that make up their life. Life is all about making decisions. Making the right decision that positively affects yourself and others, and trying your best not to make the wrong choices that may negatively hurt yourself and others. The most important factor in why people choose to do something is of how it affects themselves and the other people around them because the outcome of the decision for them and others, in the end, helps mainly determine the choice for the person or persons. Paragraph #1:
Win or Lose As humans , we have to lose to win. Life may not always be fair or in our favor but we have to let it run its course. Regardless of how long it takes; devotion, spontaneity, and heart can bring forth an opportunity we would have never been. People can not sit in one place and do nothing and still expect to go somewhere.
Have you ever been hopeful for something that exceeds what you already have? You would do anything to make that one thing in your life better. Some people are like that and do whatever they can do to make it happen and some people simply just hope for it to happen there whole life. You will never understand why other people hope for what they are hopeful for. It’s like, always wanting more than you have and you have to do something big about it to make the littlest thing happen.
