Desideratum
Charles R. Swindoll once said, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” (Swindoll). Life is your own hero's journey, full of tasks and trials. It will throw curveballs at you to try to throw you off the path you wish to follow. In my hero journey, my desideratum kept me on the right path. A desideratum is a guiding belief that help you through your journey of life.
My desideratum is that you have to lose to know how to win. Personally, this helped me to realize that you can't succeed without going through hardships. That life isn't always just a stroll through the park. Actually I find it to be quite the opposite. With friends and relationships, toxic people will try to come into your life and try to make it absolute hell. Some sick people look for ways to destroy your will to live and the worst part is you could've done nothing to them. They get it in their twisted head that you're the bad person and that you deserve this, but there comes a point where you have to step back and understand that no, you're not a terrible person and you deserve better. My desideratum encourages the challenges in life because in the end you'll be stronger. Although, saying this is one thing but, maintaining it is a whole other thing.
To maintain my desideratum, I intend on staying positive and doing what I want no matter the outcome or who will support me. People and sometime just life in general will try to get in the way. People will tell you that you won't make it or that you'll never become something, but the decision is up to you. There comes a time when you have to stop caring and remove yourself from situations. Anyone who doesn't support you is toxic and you don't deserve that negativity. Your guiding belief will help you get through these
