I remember the time when I was scared to the death for the first time in my life, it was during the winter vacations of my school after the 1st semester exams of 3rd grade that our family decided on the fact of visiting our native place Dehradun in Uttrakhand. The place was quite the ideal place and for someone with my nature who loves a lackadaisical and a mellow life as whenever I visit the place the weather is quite revitalizing, the air is quite fresh and chilly which makes the place as heaven when compared to the life experienced in the city. The best interest about visiting my hometown is that I have a chance to meet my siblings and being the only son can be quite mundane as you have no one around but, in my hometown, it was time for reunion and loss of boredom. During our stay there we siblings gathered at our house there were 2 of my sisters Nikita and Ashima and 3 of my Brothers Shubham, Daman and Abhishek and the 5 of them were all older than me. During that night we had plenty of free time with us so Shubham suggested that we go and venture the oldest graveyard present in the village as it was a graveyard with the oldest ghost stories and rumours surrounding it from the time even when my father was a child and trust me there were ghastly stories such as a spirts harbouring the place and ghosts coming out of their graves frightening me and my sister’s. Well god knows how we snuck out of the house by climbing over the walls and even though I wanted to opt out of
The fictional town of Shyashyakook in David Duncan's novel, The Brothers K, cleverly portrays subjects such as culture, human instinct, and environment. Those three topics combined are used to enhance the theme of death and rebirth. Throughout the story one can find countless instances where a character has lost all hope and given up on their dreams, only to have their dreams resurrected and find their hope restored. When Duncan introduces the town, Shyashyakook, he describes a broken down place, once lovely and childishly innocence, that has become a place of full of hardship. But just like the human will, the people from this town continue to pick up their broken pieces and begin again.
CRR #8 Observations: In the reading Our Town by Thornton Wilder, the stage manager uses humor to announce the intermission and goes on to say that three years have passed in the beginning of act two. One detail that stood out was that nothing seemed to change everything stayed the same except that Si Crowell is delivering the paper now like his brothers before him. We did not see much of Emily and George in act 1 and now they are getting married in act 2 this gives me a sense of how much time has passed.
Daddy had Mr. Heath, the carpenter, build a little mahogany coffin for him. But he didn't die, and when he was three months old, Mama and Daddy decided they might as well name him”(1 Hurst). Human do not like to be left in the dark, infact they are so scared from it they often lose control of what is actually going on. They feel as though everything must
With Chicago being such a diverse city, it’s naturally filled with neighborhoods brimming with culture and life. There are many factors that attribute to modern chicago’s distinctively unique neighborhoods, one obviously being the people that originally founded it. For example, Chicago’s Chinatown was established in the early 1900s by the floods of Chinese immigrants moving into chicago and creating businesses. Another huge influence on a neighborhood’s identity is its historical background. For Lincoln Park, the notorious St. Valentine’s Day Massacre made Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder’s building famous.
We started descending down the hill at a rapid speed, fast and faster, going up and down over bumps. As we started going down I could feel myself almost standing because of the bar, great I could potentially die if I don 't follow the rules. Instead of just letting myself stand I forced myself in with my elbows in my hips and my hands on the bar pushing me down. When the ride stopped panic arose in my parents voices. “Morgan where are you !”
I smelled all of the amusement park food, and felt sick. The day was boiling hot, and when we buckled into the roller coaster, I heard the operator, who looked like he was sweating a river, say that this roller coaster was 62 years old. That just made me even more terrified. As we were waiting, and I was talking to my cousin, the operator suddenly pushed the button.

New Plans One Saturday morning, I woke up at seven in the morning to go to an amusement park called Six Flags. The plans had been made days ago, my two older sisters, my brother, a friend of ours and I would be going to Six Flags and spend the entire day there. As I got up after finally getting my alarm to finally shut up I walked over to the bathroom to take a shower when I realized that the ground was spinning, in my eyes at least, I had a vile taste in the back of my throat. I quickly fell back onto my bed feeling like if I hadn’t
Friends and brothers and sisters, that is how it went. And when I screamed loud enough, they started to open that door just a little bit, and we all started to be able to squeeze through it… Now I am not going to stand in front of all of you today and take credit for what is happening now. I cannot do that.
I said. “Why? What if we don’t leave? I can’t leave this house! Remember this is our house!”

When people hear about Oakland they think that it’s all about “Thug life” and that if you go there it will endanger your life. People judge without getting to know Oakland’s community (people). I grew up in Oakland, California and I love it. Oakland is home of the A’s, the Raiders, and the Golden State Warriors. Yes, Oakland may have crimes in it, but that doesn’t mean everybody in Oakland is dangerous.
3.05 Reading Journal Part A In the Premature Burial, by Edgar Allen Poe, the author speaks of his terror upon being buried while not dead. The theme of overwhelming terror and the way it alters one mentally is used to show the narrator as he is swallowed up by his dread of being buried alive. The narrator is afflicted with catalepsy, which is a nervous condition that inflicts a trance or seizure with a loss of sensation and consciousness accompanied by rigidity of the body. The narrator internally fears that his paralyzed body will be falsely misconstrued as dead.
Told to me by my grandmother, it scared me to death. La Llorona known as the weeping woman is a ghost story of Mexican folklore, tells of a woman who lost her children and now weeps while looking for them in a river. It is send that if you see or hear her, death will be upon you. This story scared me and I never went out at night for a very long time. This story just wants to assure parents that their little ones will not be out late along the riverbanks in
Everyone holds a place in their heart where they find themselves the happiest, the most comfortable, and the most themselves. What is your special place? One place where I find I can clear my mind and let go of everything is the cold setting of the Rim Park volleyball courts. The countless hours that I spend within the complex remind me of what I have been through during provincials, and reminds me of the many things that contribute to make my special place a whole. When I reflect on the place I love most, there are many characteristics that bring it all together and make my place so unique.
