Personally, I can’t wait to start an internship related to my career interests. An internship is the best way to get a good feel for the environment and workforce I might soon take part in. I know that as people grow older, they’d love to turn back the clock and be younger. But at the current stage of my life, I honestly can’t wait to start my career. That may seem blasphemous, but I understand the responsibility required, and I am willing to put in the effort. In this very moment, as important as learning may be, there is no better way to learn than to actually experience it and do it. And what better way to get started, than with an internship. My ideal internship must be one that requires my input and one where I can feel involved. I want to be able to participate, even if it’s slightly so that I may stand out somehow. I do expect that there may be moments that I might be sent to run unnecessary chores, but that’s understandable. I will also most likely be asked to do boring paperwork a well, which I am fine with, but I do not want that to be the entirety of my internship. I want to be able to leave my internship feeling accomplished and satisfied. I want to learn something, make new connections, make my voice heard, etc… I want to have made some impact, positive of course. When it comes to where there are many options that peak my interest. Working somewhere like JP Morgan, is definitely a great opportunity as their name alone carries great credibility. Also, I’m sure that job opportunities in their offices would be made available if I show them dedication and persistence. District Attorney’s office and the Mayor’s office are also great opportunities. However, I’d also love to land an internship at somewhere like Pepsi, I believe that the environment is a bit more laid back. The reason I say this, is not because I feel as though it will be easier, but with a laid-back environment, I feel less restraint to voice my opinions and my outgoing nature will be more
I was doing my internship in LaGuardia Community College. LaGuardia Community College is one of the many two year institutions that is part of CUNY, New York City’s Public Colleges. CUNY is a public university system that offers an affordable, well-rounded college education. My job title is Lab Tech and I was stationed in the B-building. I was working directly under Mercedes Acosta who is the supervisor of the Lab Techs in Math Engineering and Computer Science (MECS) department at LaGuardia Community College.
Interns at DFCS gain valuable hands on experience both in the office and the community that translates into a well-rounded learning experience. DFCS interns are also afforded the opportunity to network with DFCS staff and staff at other agencies with which we work closely. My time with DFCS as an intern will always hold a special place in my heart because of all I have learned and gained through this
This is a fun, exciting, and cheerful game. It has bunches of people watching others. It makes me feel good when I walk up to the plate. I always feel like I’m at home when I step onto the field. I play my position and have fun doing it.
In addition, the program encourages hands-on learning through research opportunities and internships, which will allow me to gain practical experience and prepare for a successful career.
I have frequently tried to impact the lives of others through service, and found that each attempt has also had a profound impact on my own life. This phenomenon is especially true about my Congressional internship with the Hon. Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives. Working for Leader Pelosi, I learned that service is about the people who are served, and not just about abstract ideas. I learned to serve others best, not by acting as their savior, but rather as their partner- a partner that empowers them to live better lives.
My second day placement was completely different than the first one. I arrived late because of the weather. Once I met with my instructor Alison in acute care floor, she assigned me to work with the RN nurse Linda. Linda is very kind, thoughtful, and wanted me to be the there and she thought me the first thing to do, is use computer and read the patents vital sign, diagnosis and read night shift report.
Real lab experience is something I have not acquired yet, and look forward to gaining. As an intern, I would be able to engage in my passions in other enjoyable ways, alternative to classes, studying, or watching Crash Course Biology videos. Looking towards my future, interning at SIP will expand my network and potentially
I am interested in becoming a student assistant leader to get to know and to work with people outside of my grade. I want to build relationships with students see around school and possibly collaborate with in classes and clubs my senior year. By becoming a student assistant leader I hope to review the curriculum I learned when I went on the Sound to Sea trip my freshman year and also to learn about more complex ecological science, by interacting and assisting the counselors. I took AP Environmental science last year and did very well on the exam, so I feel I can add some of my knowledge to the activities and discussions on the trip. By assisting in teaching the lessons, I could integrate concepts at a deeper level than just listening to a
Next year at Embry-Riddle I plan start studying Cyber Intelligence and Security. Ever since middle school I knew I had a developing interest in the field of computer science and spent most of my time building the skills to excel in my classes. One of the first projects I got to use the computer on was a video for the Oregon Trail. I decided that it would be best to design an advertisement to showcase the facts in a new and creative way. When my group turned the project in, and it was shown to the class my teacher rewrote the assignment according to what we did and used it as an example of great work when recruiting new people.
My capstone activities will primarily focus on learning how to properly read, write, and speak Hmong. I will also be adding history courses with topics related to the Hmong because I personally feel that I do not know enough about my roots and history. I know that in order to be successful in who I want to be or what I want to be, I need to start with myself. As a young child, I had always had the desire to learn how to read and write in my native language.
Mentor When asked in class who my mentor was, I drew a blank. This realization sent a wave of panic through me as I realized that I was not as dedicated to the path I was on as I thought. However, we were assigned to find someone who could possibly be our mentor. This made me realize that I was not the only one in the class who was not where we should be in the process of becoming a graphic or interior designer.
I hope to make a good enough impression during the job shadow to obtain an internship, and potentially find my
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
During my internship program although our team had no leader, I took the responsibility to distribute the work among our team to ensure we finished on time. I am always a team player who believes in ‘Teamwork makes a Dream works’ – The benefit of accessing more ideas, working in harmony and helping each other for achieving mutual goals. I also never restrained myself to curriculum and participated in many seminars on topics related to computer science, information technology, and entrepreneurship. I underwent training in programming language and was also exposed to the practical nature of
Gain Confidence: We may not have the experience yet, or even the confidence to do the job we think we want, however, most internships train students on-the-job and provide a fantastic learning experience for them to build their confidence. This confidence show, especially if you are in the middle of a phone or in-person interview. Build Your Network: Building your professional network is just as important as building your experience. Internships allow students to connect with professionals that are involved in similar work. It’s important to build your professional network.
