I am applying to graduate school to explore my interests in Telecommunication Engineering and involve myself in the development and implementation of new technologies needed to make 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) a reality. I am confident that these two technologies are going to spearhead the next revolution in communication engineering and change the way people interact with each other and with machines. My long term goal is to play an active role in developing communication systems and contribute towards making the latest technological improvements reach the common man. Ever since I commenced my B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, I have been on a path of exploration trying to find a direction on what the next step in my …show more content…

Apart from these, Embedded Systems also piqued my interest and I fell in love with courses like 'Computer Organization and Architecture', 'Micro-controller and its Applications' and 'Advanced Micro-controllers'. By end of the sixth semester, I had made my decision on my general area of interest. It was around this time I got an opportunity to do an internship at 'Bharti Airtel Limited' and since telecommunication was closely related to my general area of interest, I felt it would be the right decision to learn more about the telecommunications …show more content…

I started meeting professors and discussed with them about my interest in telecommunications and prospective areas to do my thesis project. It was at this time I chose to pursue elective courses like Wireless Sensor Networks and took a special interest in learning courses like Wireless and Mobile Communication. I started thinking about what would be the leading technologies in the Communications industry in the years to come, and there were two obvious answers- 5G technology and Internet of things. I started reading about these technologies and challenges involved in developing them. I saw the introduction of 4G in India and how drastically the speeds went up and costs came down, moreover, when I came to know 5G would deliver speeds up to ten times faster than 4G I felt my career would be exciting and interesting if I chose this field. I started researching more about 5G and challenges involved to make it a reality. I was told about Device-to-Device Communication as a potential avenue for my thesis project by my current project guide Dr Sankar T. I did some foraying into the concept and started studying journal papers to find a problem statement that interests me. I am currently working on my thesis project to propose a novel method to improve the efficiency of the Mode selection problem in Device-to-Device communication.

Meanwhile, I want to go for a Master's degree in Telecommunications
