My motivation, passion, and belief summarize My Legacy. Within this essay, I will illustrate three points that explain explaining My Legacy. The three points, A Good Example, Live My Strength, and Blocking Time, apply to my personal, professional, and educational beliefs. Growing up, my parents always expressed setting a good example for my younger brother. Until he is able to create incredible opportunities for himself, I committed myself to setting a good example for him. My obligation to him focuses on showing him how to stay focused, disciplined, dedicated, creating a respectable work ethic, and setting attainable goals. Models he can follow include being consistent at work, graduating from college, pursuing professional degrees and certifications, and being an athlete for over twenty years. Not only did I have to set a good example, I began living my strength. "Live my strength" definitively means being a strong individual and being independent. This can be both a gift and a curse; however, I embrace these qualities. Learning how to manage a variety of tasks on your own without having everything handed to me definitely built character. Junior year was a bit challenging for me. It was not challenging because of the work, but I joined a career program. I had to keep up with both of my schools. For me to be successful with so many things going on, I had to stay organized and think ahead. My success was that I kept all my grades above a C+.

My family has always been the center of my universe. They’ve taught me the importance of being united and taking care of one another—because in the end, all we truly have is each other. My parents have raised me to be a good daughter, sister, and citizen. They’ve shaped me to be respectful, responsible, and virtuous, knowing these values will last a lifetime. But above all, my parents have instilled in me an appreciation and eagerness for education.

A quote from Doctor Seuss, “Sometime you will know the value of a moment until it become a memory.” What will your legacy be? Everyone wants to be remembered in some way. Whether it is being remembered as the lazy kid who snoozes through class, or the dedicated student who is always prepared for class. For example, a legacy to me is something that is left by a person to be remembered by.
Abraham Lincoln once stated, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” One key term in Lincoln’s statement is adversity, which means a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune. Another important term in Lincoln’s statement is character, which means the complex mental and ethical traits we use to mark and individualize a person. Taken as a whole, Lincoln means that almost everyone can handle a tough situation, but if you want to see their true character or person, you can test them by giving them power. Furthermore, Lincoln implies in his statement that you could be a strong person (or claim to be), however, when given a taste of power or in this case, reign over
Your legacy is in your actions and what people remember. Many think one's legacy, is some monetary or wonderful gift one leaves those they love, or people they know. But I am here to tell you, that it's not your legacy, your legacy is in what is remembered about you, and what you leave behind in people’s memories and actions. Be it positive or negative, each lesson you teach is your legacy. Every day you work and speak and give motivation is your legacy.

It is pretty hard to unpack the influences in my life that have made me into the person I am today in a two-page paper. However, after thinking about it for a long time I could see a pattern of certain influences that kept coming up when I thought about who I am today and what made me into the person I am. After several unsuccessful attempts to rank the influences based on importance I decided merge them into two major themes. If I was to tell a complete stranger what the source of my skills, principles, and attitudes were; I would have to say they are attributed to my family and my extracurricular activities. These may seem like 2 very broad categories, but at the end of the day they are what shaped me into the person I am today.

With all my success, I know the conditions I lived in previously many people are still living in it today has overall made me be a better human being.
