The Most Important Day

First scene: it’s late afternoon, I stand at the altar along side the pastor and my husband-to-be in a chic and elegant Maggie Sottero wedding gown. A cool breeze whipps through the vineyard, the early May sun peeks out occasionally. A pleasant breeze from the north rustles in the surrounding shrubs, cooling the guests and family members as they took their seats on either side of the walk leading to the gazebo. A stretched Lincoln stood alone, decked out in ribbons and twisted coils of streamers, ready to whisk the me and my beloved groom away. 'Just Married ' was painted across the dark rear window. The color motif of off-white and marsala red highlighted my entourage of lifelong friends and family. Stargazers and lilies line the aisles of wooden benches as sweet strains of classical music drift through the crowd. I had been planning this day for a year and a half. The 300 guests invited by my husband I tremble with the excitement of fresh love. Children are jumping and running around instead of being fussed over by their mothers and aunts, having their ties and hair bows adjusted. Old friends and family see each other for the “first time in 15 years” exchanging 10 minute monologues updating each other on what they 've missed. As the sunsets behind the rolling hills spirits are high in the anticipation of “thank god this ceremony is almost done,” “we get free booze after this,” and the official launch party of my latest branding
