Ever since I was a very young boy, I knew I would have limitations growing up, and that fact that I knew plus the experiences I had as I grew up made me the mature person I am today. Even at 19 years of age, the people who know me, who know the person I am, they know and they have told me that I might be too mature for my age. And due to I know how mature I can be, I know it takes great character and courage to admit one’s own greatest strength and weakness, and I don’t mean superficial strengths and weaknesses like stinking at sports, but first-rate in academics, or, what people often say, being awful at anything math related, but skillful at other things; but I will try to do the best I can to say what is my real strength and my real weakness. My greatest weakness would be how envious I am about other’s success, I would find myself sometimes wishing I would have grown up under the same conditions some of my friends have. But from this weakness, I inherit my greatest strength, which is my determination. If I am determined to do something, I will do everything in my power to accomplish it. I know that I might not accomplish what I want on the first try, but I keep trying, like Winston Churchill said: “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”, so I keep trying until I succeed. My life has been filled with limitation, because as far back as I can remember my family and I didn’t live in a house as one would hope to grow up in. It was my
On May 30 2013 someone was saying to his friend, Ciara“Alright Ciara, I need to tell; you this now. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Also, there’s some bad news… I have to evacuate my home. There’s an extremely large fire maybe 15 miles from my house and heading this way..” and he sent her “I can see the flames from my house!
As I read about “relentless” by Robert Staub, I already began to picture in my mind how it applies towards my life and my personal persistence and determination. I think everyone goes though different stages of life where things get extremely difficult and stressful. It’s so easy to just give up and find another way but it’s not my style. To me that’s what life is, moving though challenges and rough patches it’s the best learning experience there is.
My most defining experiance and achievement took place between the months of April and October of 2015, this experiance was caddying at Nakoma Golf Club and my greatest achievement was recieving Rookie Caddy of the Year. Sunday March 1st was the day I called the Nakoma for the first time, I had just gotten out of open gyms for baseball and went on the phone. Around April 3rd I recived a call from Nakoma apolgizing for my unreturned calls and that caddy training would start the following Saturday. I showed up fourty five minutes earlier then the arrival time, this is when I would meet the other caddys and bag room emplloyes. The next five Sundays I went through the caddy training and at the end of that i was a certified caddy.
I have had grit within me for as long as i 've known. I am always willing to try challenging things and never am one to give up without a fight. Like when I was in the eighth grade. I was 13 and had been working hard lifting weights and pushing myself in hard football practices trying to prepare for the season. Then finally it was time for our first game.
All three authors make clear that maturity drives one’s ability to cope with life’s challenges. While the speaker in
It is very important for these youth to hear other people acknowledge their strengths. Acknowledging the strengths of these youth correlates with the “stimulation theories that are essential for human well-being” (Hutchison, 2013, 218). The simulation theory focuses on adding stimuli that can influence how a person thinks or views a particular thing (Hutchison, 2013). Such as by using the strengths to stimulate the youth they may change their perspectives on what they can do in their adult life (Hutchison,
Growth Mindset Definition Essay In this paper I will be explaining the concepts of a growth mindset, a growth mindset is when people appreciate a challenge. I will not only be talking about the definition, but I will also tell you what a person with a growth mindset is like, they are optimistic. They would rather solve a problem they run away from it. I will go into depth about how they act when faced with certain challenges and everyday things in life such as relationships or stretching their abilities.
In my brief life, I have overcome a lot of adversity. My mom fled Mexico with her three young children to escape domestic violence. When we came to this country we had only a few personal belongings and the promise of a better future. We came to this country and lived in a small trailer with no toilet other than a bucket, and no shower except for the one that was lent to us from the kindness of a stranger, our new neighbor. As a single parent, my mother had to work day and night to support us.
In May Swenson’s “Fable for when there’s no way out”, shows importance on knowing your limits and having the ability to overcome them. For example, “He pecks at the top but his beak’s too soft;” This shows he has faced a limit and can’t surpass it and is conveying what is happening. An experience of surpassing his limit is”What a thrill and shock to feel his little gaft poke through the floor!”. This shows he exceeded his limit. All of these characters are an inspiration.
Determination. I had to put this word first in this essay because its the only word that has a big meaning to me and has my whole life. Being determined has done a lot for me in the long run. It had kept my motivations up and going, also has led my life to where it is now. Determination wasn't just planted into my mindset one day.
You are your strength, every thank you receive from others is your strength, every dream you inspire is your strength, each person’s knowledge you build is your strength, each time you lose it, and
One of my experiences with failure took place when I was in fourth grade. There were many problems accumulated and I was a child who needed people to see if I did my homework or study for the test, because I couldn’t concentrate and was distracted by anything in the room. My brother also had problems that year, he needed more attention because he didn’t get along with his math teacher and my Mom was always after him with the homework; otherwise he would have failed Math at the end of the year. In fourth grade, the teacher that was assigned to us was one of the strict teachers that were in that school
Personal strengths are actions or tasks that a person can perform well. These strengths comprise talents, skills and knowledge. A person uses these traits and abilities in his daily life to accomplish tasks, relate with others, and to achieve goals. Everyone has their own set of strengths. Our personal strengths are that vital aspect that makes us unique as individual, and it is part of the value we offer to the world around us.
A sense of accomplishment is invaluable to a person. Not only does a sense of accomplishment build confidence and faith in oneself, but it also allows one to reflect on how wonderful the journey to the accomplishment was, and how every little struggle and triumph was worth it. In the middle of summer, where time seems endless and the stress of the previous school year has been shed by students, I never expected to find out that I scored a five on both of the advanced placement exams I took. Nor did I have one-hundred percent confidence the goals we set as section leaders of the marching band would actually be met. Yet to my surprise, I had the good fortune of accomplishing challenging things in both aspects of my life.
In our life, there are periods of challenges that we must face, but the real challenge is how we grow and learn from overcoming them. Being naive children, we believed that life was simplistic and effortless. Well, we were wrong, we can only yearn for life to be easy. Growing up, we continue to face countless hurdles that only get bigger and bigger. My life, in particular, has been filled with numerous up and downs.
