As the semester is finishing up, I look back at this class and reflect my learning and thoughts about this class. I look back and see how much I’ve learned, such as the six plus 1 traits, word choice, and placings of words. These teachings will help me throughout my life, such as scholarship applications, college classes, job applications, and so much more.
My thoughts on writing has changed dramatically. I now release the work and knowledge you need to write a phenomenal piece. I learned that writing isn't just words that are typed on a document such as this. I learned that writing comes from experiences, knowledge, and dedication. My writing and knowledge on writing has grew since the first day when I sat in my chair. Since that day I have
I also learned that my writing could have a positive impact on society. Before this event, when I would write, I wouldn't try very hard. I would just blow
Mihika Garg Ms.Panes English 1A, P4 22 May 2023 Script Although English 1A was just a little part of my high school journey, I believe that it had a prominent impact on my abilities and on me as a student overall. I discovered my love for reading and writing again. I never genuinely liked writing before but after this English class my writing skills have grown and I have found how expressing yourself with words can be so valuable. From reading, I learned lessons that I may have never learned unless I had experienced them.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thoughts, observations, and reflections on the academic writing that was presented within the Capella University writing course. The enclosed portfolio will provide additional detail to what I have learned throughout this course, and showcase my strengths and weaknesses. During the course, I have evolved within my writing due to the specific way this course compartmentalized each step of the writing process. For example, the first three units provided a way to analyze research on a specific topic and critique the data presented in the scholarly article. I have always felt that my research skills were good, however, the feedback received made me realize that I need to critique the studies more to be able to apply the results to my topic of interest.
With the instruction given to me over the past few months, I have grown as a writer and gained confidence in my writing skills. When I
In putting together my portfolio, I could definitely see that I have made an incredible progress from the foundation of this class. My practice of grammar, words and the general structure of my papers has improved massively. Reflecting on my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, as well as things I have learned in my own writing process is a big accomplishment.
I have always found writing hard but now I enjoy it more. I 'm not going to lie and say that it 's easy for me because it 's hard. I get lost with my thoughts a lot. What I say sounds way better then when I put it down on a paper. I have been wanting to write a small book of something.
It was a new stepping ground for me, learning all this new material. It was a great feeling. Mrs. White began her lessons at a slow pace, since the majority of her students were unable to write. She felt that the school’s standards wouldn’t be beneficial for us, writing an essay was a more important issue to focus on. That being said she taught us what she believed was beneficial to us in the future.
Since my early days of learning, I used to enjoy the writing of all kinds from creative, essay, information among others although I often struggled to do it. I took English in my first semester of college and it made me feel very excited. However, at the back of my mind, I knew the assignments will be tough but they were generally interesting and the topics were engaging. The semester had been quite busy and it was characterized with a lot of assignments such as, essays, discussions as well as research project among others. Generally, all experience of learning was beneficial despite the challenges that I faced along the way.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
As each writing assignments is graded, I realize how much I have improved as a writer by the grade and the fewer mistakes that I have made in them. As each time the grammatical and spelling mistakes are fewer on each paper. I want to share how I have grown as a writer on second semester by being in class and reflecting on my previous assignments. Even though there weren’t many writing assignments this semester. There were some assignments that I have done poorly on.
My instructor Jennifer Jackson said this time “ Bravo! This is one of the strongest revisions I’ve seen yet.” This essay gave me so much confidence and made me feel I can actually write something interesting. Also, I sent my paper to The Writing Center, after I submitted my paper to my instructor to see any other mistakes I could have to improve my writing skills.
Writing essays and other types of posts has always been difficult for me. But, throughout this composition class, I have learned many interesting and new things about the different types of writing styles. When starting this class, I considered myself to be an average writer with run-of-the-mill vocabulary, ordinary sentence structure and typical finished products. This class has helped me greatly improve my writing skills in a variety of ways. I have learned multiple things by taking this class, such as new ways to approach writing and that there is much that I still need to learn about composition.
Thank you for giving me this chance to talk about my English class, it was very excited to be a part of English 101 this quarter. We act as a family in this class by helping each other in writing, discussions stories and responding to each other. To be honest, I worked very hard this quarter and I focused more on my English class rather than other classes I had taken in SFCC. Writing is something not easy when it comes to my mind, because I am an international student and it is a differencet from my writing style and English writing style, so I should separate between them. I would not say writing English assignment is very hard for me, but I mean I make some mistakes.
Final Reflection Over the course of the semester, I was challenged in different ways regarding my writing skills, group work, and ability to take constructive criticism. I think that this class truly did push me to reach new heights of my writing ability, and working with others helped me get there. Overall I enjoyed this class and it was always a nice break from the regular day, and being in such a small and close environment, helped me create constructive working relationships with my fellow classmates quite successfully.
Writing project 3 has shown me the importance of writing something that is of interest for you, an issue that you are passionate about. I think that I have started to get somewhat better at the structuring of my writing and using outlines before I jump into a draft. I am no longer as scared and hesitant to write, as I was the first writing project. I think a good goal that I accomplished from this project was using diverse sources in my writing. I was able to utilize a magazine post, newspaper article and research journals to form my argument and provide support.
