Throughout school, I was never sure what I would do with my life, or what I would study once I graduated. I wasn't nor would I consider myself as a perfect student, because there is no such thing as a perfect student. Having the opportunity to move from Los Angeles to Visalia was a huge opportunity to figure out my strengths and weakness in a open area. Moving here at the age of 10 didn’t seem like a huge deal for me, but as I started growing up and seeing more opportunities it made me realize it was worth moving here, because things that I’m able to do here I wouldn't have been able to do it over there. I come from a family who has two parents and three other siblings. It is a big handful for all of us, especially when I have a sibling in …show more content…
I do want to apply for a job, but with the schedule that I have, it just wouldn’t work with me, but I do consider helping out my dad at the Swap Meet a job. It may seem that I stated my life already, but this is not all yet, there is still more to go.
There were many things that were calling out my attention that I was wanting to try or get involved with at my high school Golden West. There were many opportunities that I had the chance to be involved to gain experience and knowledge. For instance, here at Golden West there is an academy named Business Finance Academy also known as B.F.A., in this academy they teach you from the basics of business to knowing how to run a virtual business and competing at tradeshows. I got involved in this academy since my sophomore year and became passionate about business since then. Now, as a senior I held a high position in company as the Chief Finance Officer. Not only did I gain my business skills from that class, but I also gain experience from a business club called “DECA”. Having the opportunity to go and learn and compete and
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Bryan Le, a freshman that is currently attending a charter school by the name of “Downtown College Prep”. I am currently living with my parents and two younger siblings, one brother and one sister. Over my years in a public elementary school, I had seen others being happy because of one’s help and that made me feel happy inside. I then thought of ways to help others when I stumbled upon the fact that doctors help people everyday, which seemed as a great way to help many people so that they may continue to be happy in life. As I entered Downtown College Prep, I was urged by the staff to explore my options and to set a goal in life.
My junior year I joined this club called DECA which prepares future entrepreneurs for finance, marketing, hospitality, and management in high school and in college. Students compete against other students in different categories. I decided to do DECA because I really liked all of the
My whole life long, I have been trying to find a place where I can truly fit in. I have also been worried about what I would do when I grew up. I was torn between my passion for horses and my passion for performing. There was no way I could give up one for the other, so I searched the net for Christian colleges that had majors in both equine studies and vocal performance and there it appeared: Asbury University. It was manna from Heaven.
I was surrounded by a close, caring and loving community. I began to see the endless opportunities my education could offer me. Through setting up a pathway filled with challenging honor classes and CTE classes that interested me, I truly began to care for my academics. Every teacher encouraged me to be the best I could be. During my time at Midway, I learned a lot of responsibility and took pride in my work.
In the day and year of my birth on July 27, 1998. I was born in the state of New Mexico though this doesn 't mean that I lived in New Mexico for a very long time. My father Jimmie Herrera and my mother Janethin Herrera, both born and raised in New Mexico, but they didn’t finished high school and so we moved to different places to places until my dad gotten a perfect job with the pay very well that we moved and stayed in a small town in Gypsum Colorado, where I spent my youth for only about fifteen years until we moved to New Mexico on the year 2014. From that time I have lived in Colorado, I did not know of my origins, what to do in the future, and constantly lose my self respect until a climactic event arose during my years in middle school.
The age-old threshold of self-responsibility is something every teenager passes when moving on from high school. I had a taste of this life when participating in the Carnegie Mellon University Pre-College Program during this last summer. I was part of the National High School Game Academy, where we learned about game development and made our own video games. Life on campus was liberating, yet stressful, as I learned there were many entertaining activities as well as deadlines to meet during this six week program. Temptations such as clubs and amusement park trips plagued my entire stay on campus.
Throughout my life, I strived to produce my greatest work possible and continue to do so today. I am in National Honor Society, I take Advanced placement, Honors, Advanced, and dual-enrollment courses at Penn State DuBois. I spent two summers volunteering at the local community theater kid’s summer workshop, and during the year I volunteer to usher, stage manage, and run lights at the theater. I began selling clothes on eBay at thirteen and by fifteen I created an online store through Etsy. I began working at the age of sixteen, and I currently work at T.J. Maxx.
I am committed to pursuing a career as a professional physical therapist and, as you can see from my transcript, am making progress toward earning a degree in the field of athletic training with an excellent grade point average. In addition to focusing on my studies full-time, I am also involved in a number of campus and community activities. I am involved in the cheer team and have also volunteered with roadrunners give back during school breaks. I also hold down a part-time job as a sales associate at Massage Envy, where I have an opportunity to learn valuable skills that will help me with my interpersonal communication skills while earning money to fund my education.
Whether directing a choir, directing a musical or teaching college level courses, my desire is to educate those who have entrusted their education into my hands. Serving in different areas of ministry, my philosophy was always to educate others. As a funeral director, I had the opportunity to help guide families through one of the most difficult times. I could have continued serving in the capacity; however, I wanted people everywhere to experience a first class funeral director. As a result, I began my journey as a funeral service education instructor.
I was able to grow up into adulthood as I experienced a significant event, pushing me out my comfort zone, and learning who I truly am, thus better preparing myself for the future. And this was made possible due to my time dorming at Cal Poly Pomona, as a student of the Pasadena City College Upward Bound Program. However, in truth, intentionally, I didn’t want to go. Afterall, during my childhood, I was an easy target for bullies, constantly physically and verbally abused; lasting from elementary school to middle school. And due to this, I became a much more antisocial and shy person.
Next year at Embry-Riddle I plan start studying Cyber Intelligence and Security. Ever since middle school I knew I had a developing interest in the field of computer science and spent most of my time building the skills to excel in my classes. One of the first projects I got to use the computer on was a video for the Oregon Trail. I decided that it would be best to design an advertisement to showcase the facts in a new and creative way. When my group turned the project in, and it was shown to the class my teacher rewrote the assignment according to what we did and used it as an example of great work when recruiting new people.
Who I am as a learner. Well let me start by letting me tell you that I am a very good at swimming so good went to nationals this summer ,I placed 2nd overall in my age division. This summer I also placed 1 in my best stroke which is breaststroke. When I was in third grade it was New Years Day and I was at my Grandma 's house when his dog attacked me.
Perhaps my calling will bring me back here, and with increased knowledge and experience, a host of new ideas, I will be able to improve it, change it for the better. Having fought hard to gain back my right to apply to the college that I yearn to attend and to participate in activities which I have an interest in, I am now a determined person whose goals and dreams cannot be overshadowed by expectations of others. I want to inculcate this new tradition of knowledge combined with experience in my family, for I believe that the key to success lies in a comprehensive understanding of events by the powerful tool of knowledge through education. With my parents’ permission and blessings to apply, I have achieved the first step of bringing about this change and hope.
I have taken full advantage of this learning experience and have grown tremendously academically, personally, and professionally. I am actively volunteering at Renaissance Care Center in Canton Illinois where I spend time with elderly adults and people with developmental disabilities. I enjoy my time spent volunteering at the facility. Another opportunity I have received is the pleasure of being a part of Big Brothers and Big Sisters community organization. Joining this organization not only changed the life of my “little sister”, but has also shaped my life as well.
Why am I still going to this charter school which doesn 't provide transportation? Why couldn 't my dad be here picking me up instead of the hospital? My future seemed highly uncertain and my grades were dropping. I tried my best to power through my newest challenge. I reminded myself of a past challenge of working through and successfully adapting to America.
