Introduction In this paper, I will discuss the key facts and critical issues presented in the Wayne Williams case. Dissuccion In 1979, a travesty began unfolding in Atlanta, Georgia when young black males began disappearing then turning up dead some time later (CNN, 2010). The trail was cold as investigators continued to receive reports from families around the city.
Wayne Williams Essay Hair and fibers seem like tiny useless objects, but they have a huge impact when it comes to forensic investigations. Hair strands and fibers hold more information than we can see. For example hair can tell where you have been, what you have eaten, and what race you are. Also DNA can be pulled from strands of hair.

Though the Zodiac Killer case technically remains unsolved, one man is favored as likely being the serial killer with seven confirmed victims in northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The case against Arthur Leigh Allen, the main suspect, is favored based largely on circumstantial evidence. This evidence includes everything from wearing the same size gloves as those left at one of the Zodiac’s confirmed crime scenes to living near and knowing the second confirmed female victim. A litany of circumstantial evidence seems to point toward Allen as the serial killer: he wore the same size and type of boots as a print found at a crime scene; a former colleague claimed Allen told him he was planning to kill school children in a similar
Black Dahlia Murder In 1947 the tragic loss of Elizabeth Short shocked many people all over the world. This wasn’t your typical murder, this murder had to have been planned out and thought about for a while before its happening. The “Black Dahlia Murder” is the biggest unsolved case in Los Angeles and is still an undergoing investigation. I have reason to believe that Dr. Gorge Hodel is the murderer behind the brutality of Elizabeth Short’s body.
The Murder of the Hollywood Starlet A young hollywood starlet was brutally murdered in 1947 with no killer identified to this day. This is real case that still puzzles investigators today. The woman in question was named Elizabeth Short, but is more widely known as the “Black Dahlia.” She was given this nickname by the press because of the sheer, black clothing she tended to wear (“The Black Dahlia Murder - Read All about it in FBI Records.”).
The cut on Nicole 's throat was so deep that it nicked her vertebra C3, the portion of the spine that supports the neck. Her windpipe and larynx were clearly seen, and the 2 carotid arteries severed, along with 1 jugular artery and the other jugular cut and left dangling by a thread. The windpipe and larynx consists of several muscles and cartilage. It is difficult to even begin to tear cartilage due to its flexibility, stiffness, and rigidity. In order to have cut through the windpipe, it would have been difficult enough.

On December 23, 1981, Thomas Sophonow, a Canadian man, was wrongfully accused of murder. 16 year old Barbara Stoppel was ruthlessly killed at the washroom of her workplace. Unfortunately, eyewitnesses mistakenly chose Mr. Sophonow as being the murderer. Eye witnesses stated that a man, whose appearance was very similar to that of Thomas Sophonow, locked the door and made his way to the back of the shop where he was presumed to have strangled Barbara Stoppel to death. Furthermore, while Thomas Sophonow was in custody, he showed an undercover officer a door locking technique.
Serial killers are roughly defined as unremorseful killers who kill for pleasure. Many serial killers show signs of being psychologically corrupt at a young age. Although, many researchers do not understand why some children exhibit abnormalities and turn out to be productive members of society and some exhibit similar abnormalities that develop into psychological disarray. This paper will examine the extent to which past experiences during childhood affect how serial killers became what they are. The past lives of serial killers will be explained and analyzed to see how these people turned out to be such brutal murderers.
As a society we are not surprised when we see the headlines of news articles with the words serial killer or mass murderer, we have grown a sense of normalcy to these words that one would think would actually be quiet freighting or at least should be. Society however has not been prepared to understand or know how to react when the killer is a child. What should be looked for, what is a red flag, is something different from this child than that one. What makes a child a murderer?
