Skydiving is a group organized and professionally guided sporting activity that involves individuals jumping from an aircraft, at a high altitude with parachutes and performing several acrobatic maneuvers during free fall before safely landing on the ground with the help of the parachutes. Jumping out of the airplane alone is amusing hence, skydiving activity is not just a free fall process; it is actually flying— a free, imaginative and non-mechanical personal flight. The activity that is viewed by many as a “mad man fantasy” provides a maximum social redemption that one can ever experience hence a good recreational activity. Many people may not wish to participate in this activity may be because of fear of injuries, just in case, things do not turn out to be perfect or just due to fear of engaging in this new activity. But my first experience with skydiving came with a lot of learning. Among these included learning basic information about parachute equipment, canopy controls, aspects of freefall, parachute opening techniques and lastly information on safe landing …show more content…
The safe altitude, as I had learned prior was at 5,500 feet. Attaining this altitude, I shouted “five-five”, to my jumpmasters and pulled the ripcord of my parachute to open it. This was fascinating and enjoyable. My parachute quickly opened and I felt slightly shocked at that event. For safety measures, I checked my canopy for any malfunction; it was stable and perfectly working. I quickly learned that the canopy flight was much slower than that of free fall. I could see the beautiful environment as I approached the landing zone. Finally, I was able to walk straight, without falling after touching the ground. The six minutes sky adventure was over. I collected my parachute and sauntered through the marvelous skydive building. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable
It was around noonish, we went into the city. Beautiful was the first thought in my mind. We looked around to see what was around the area and we found something we’ve never seen before. “Indoor SkyDiving” Never seen this before,

When it was my turn, I hesitated to jump but I finally did. When I was in the air, I felt like I was flying as free as a bird. I held the two ropes tightly with my hands, but I liked the wind in my face. When I had to land on next tower, it was a bit worrying, but I landed safely.

The theme of “Taking the Plunge” is to accomplish any challenge you have to overcome your fears on your own. In the beginning of the excerpt the narrator nervously rambling about anything to keep from losing nerve .” Do crows really always fly directly?” this distraction allows to continue his ascent up the diving platform. All the while constantly looking for another distraction to offset nerves, all the while continuing to accomplish the task at hand “you can’t see the bolts in this diving platform from the ground, which is good if your objective is to get more people to scale this crazy tower because those bolts are pockmarked and look wounded,”
I’m on a mountain, I just overcame my first obstacle the chair lift. Which I thought would be harder than it was I miraculously didn’t fall or knock over the other skiers/snowboarders. I glanced back up at the gleaming mountain becoming easily distracted by the flawless stroke of every turn as the pros make their way down. I say quietly to myself “Isn’t this suppose to be a beginners hill?” They have gopros strapped to their helmets and are racing each other down.
I leapt from the diving board my rescue tube in hand, the air whooshing past my ears and adrenaline pumping through my veins. With a resounding splash, the swimming pool’s cool crisp water surrounded me. As I tore through the water, I looked up and saw the victim, a young woman in her twenties. A wide eyed, terrified expression was on her face as she sank underwater. I swam towards her body with all of my strength
The sound of the whistle jolted me into action. I dove from the block, and a wave of silence crashed over me as I hit the water. For a moment, there was a sense of serenity as I swam under the surface. The spell broke as I rose for air. I could hear everyone yelling and cheering.
Once we found the cliffs, we didn 't realize how high they would be. I think my sister and I were both a little nervous. When we got to the top of the cliff it seemed 10 times higher than it did from the ground. I kind of forced myself to jump off, so we counted to three and jumped. Jumping off the cliff was one of the best feelings in the world.
I was never a fan of flying. It’s not that I’m afraid of heights or anything, it’s just the idea of flying. Launching up into the sky, by an airplane specifically, is quite scary, if you think about it. Just imagine every possible way something could go wrong. The plane could get stuck in a storm and crash.
