Personal Narrative-Fishing Journey

"Rin, Rin wake up!"

It was the final few days of our spring break during the last year of our grand adventure at mines, and we were out on a small sailboat we rented. In celebration and reflection of surviving our time at the Colorado School of Mines, me and my friends decided to sail along the coast of California. We enjoyed the combination of the warm sunlight and the cool ocean mist, things that we never feel back in Colorado. The boat was just big enough to carry my and my friends Juan and Hannah, and we were having a blast.

We were lost on raging waters, and I took initiative to be the leader with my teamates diligently working along side me. Mines had always had a key virtue of teamwork and community, and I know that that helped us through the storm. Hannah was able to use some of the knowledge she had gained from a minor she took for a year to communicate to those we were unfamiliar with. Juan was able to translate his knowledge of machines to something that he hasn't worked on, and was proud of it.

From climbing that mountain to get whitewashed at the M, to going to field studies to experience our majors applications, many great experiences and memories will be treasured forever. I know that our sailing adventure may even seem dull compared to all of the exciting things we did and accomplished at Mines. Mines wasn't just a school to us, it was a chance to change the future and impact people in a positive way we didn't believe was possible. It brought us help in aspects of life that we couldn't even imagine. And for all of this, I'm very
