When I first signed up to be one of the crew of the infamous Bold Adventure, I was laughed at for being a girl. But my presence seemed to have sparked the interest of the captain hence; he started questioning me about my expertise. He didn’t think much of me at first but after listening to my adventures of sailing through the open seas albeit I was a lady, he was fascinated. He also tested my skills in the knowledge of knotting, careening the ship and also to my surprise, navigate one. Satisfied with the tasks I’ve done, he appointed me to be the Quartermaster and also as the second mate. The crew was resentful at first as the tall tale went; a woman onboard ship was nothing but sheer bad luck. But soon, we bonded fast …show more content…
Turner was fighting by my side and as we advanced forward, the infamous Commodore William Lubber was poising his sword at me. I charged towards him but he avoided my sword with subtlety that took me off my balance. He tried to send numerous charges and managed to strike multiple successful ones, slicing through my skin and I fell onto my knees. As he tried to descend his sword down my chest, I evaded it with my cutlass and weakly pushed it away as the last energy forsakes me. He then kicked me in the belly, sending me off across the wet cobbled street and I lay there helplessly. As I succumbed to the inevitable defeat, I heard William let out a cry of agony and fell down beside me. Turner was pulling me up and guided my steps towards his ship waiting for us at the jetty. He then whistled to all of his crews although I don't have the slightest idea of how they would have heard it over the din. As the last crew climbed onboard the ship, Turner turned the wheel to starboard and sailed us away from the ghastly army that tried to pepper us with cannon

The event that I have chosen is the Freedom Rides, which started May 4, 1961 and ended December 10, 1961. The Freedom Rides were inspired by the Greensboro Sit-ins, and started with 13 African American and Caucasian protestors riding buses into the segregated south to challenge the lack of enforcement to the Supreme Court ruling that segregated buses were unconstitutional. While the activists were peaceful the local law enforcement and people against their message were not. The activists were beaten at several stops along their journey from Anniston to Birmingham with chains, bricks, and bats by Ku Klux Klan (KKK) members in Alabama, and activists that were injured would be refused hospital treatment. I am Panfilo Narvaez, and I was the leader of the expedition. Cabeza De Vaca was a captain of one of my many ships that I had. I was from Spain and they sent me to find land. The King and Queen wanted us to get land for them so they can take over, so I listened to them. So I did what they told me to do, and followed my navigation’s I had.
Both women pretend, for some time, to be male pirates. The reading does not mention the women having many difficulties living as men. This makes me wonder how the social norms of women and men became so different. If women could do the same tasks as men then why were they treated differently? I also wonder how many other women pretended to be men and for what reasons.
They think the ship is a disaster waiting to hit water. After a long time the Monitor was finally complete. Captain Ericsson decided to test the ship in the East River. The first time the ship hit the water everyone held their breath. The ship moved around in the waves but did not sink.

Be sure to include the caption somewhere in the story. In Marcus Rediker’s Villains of All Nations, pirates Mary Read and Anne Bonny are represented as being vulnerable, emotional, extraordinary women. Both being born illegitimate children, Rediker poses an understanding, empathetic treatment of these women, despite their representation of ‘liberty’ emanating from the brutality of piracy. The constant referral to Read and Bonny as female pirates indiscreetly implies that Rediker interprets their participation in piracy as delicate, which is unjust. Females and delicateness were a dominant association in the 18th century. Rather than referring to the two women simply as pirates, Rediker uses the phrase female pirates to imply that their participation on ship was neither masculine nor violent.
Ordinary World: Hero’s life before the adventure which shows him as normal like you and I in his everyday life. It also allows the audience to emphasize with his plight and easier to identify with him as the story progresses. Call to Adventure: A threat to his safety, families or community in which he lies, that ultimately disrupts his everyday life and he needs to solve it. Refusal of the Call: This is the part where the hero refuses to accept the quest, has deep thoughts or second doubts about it. This usually is accompanied by the hero suffering in some way changing his decision in refusing to accept the quest making the audience bond further with the hero.

Unwilling to wait any longer with a cold hand I threw a dagger and watched it soar through the tree line and enter the clear space, cutting the wind as it went until “Swish” penetrating the skull from behind. Not my brightest moment as he turned around fuming scanning the tree line just as I took cover behind my tree. if I die I die I said as I bolted from behind the tree, and sprinted towards him covering ground very fast until I got within distance then I jumped a good 10 feet high, sword blade pointing down as gravity brought me down straight on his

Why? Why was I cursed to live this life of rage and pain? Why did our ancestor cause us to be cursed with generations of life-liquid thirsty pain and rage filled lives? Why does one man’s actions define a generation to follow? We weren’t even given a chance to be different from him.
Similarities have always been found in adventure stories, but it was not until 1949 when Joseph Campbell published his book The Hero With A Thousand Faces, when his idea of a monomyth was proposed. All thought it may not seem like it, many stories in society today follow the idea of a similar hero’s journey. This being the basic understanding of a monomyth, that all adventures roughly follow the same guidelines. The first stage being departure, the second; initiation, and the third being return. The original 1939 production of Wizard of Oz follows Campbell’s
