Ricardo was a great, selfless father to my siblings and me. He was a doctor, a successful one, in fact. He worked day and night to ensure there was food on the table three times a day and our needs are met. In the work-filled life of a doctor, he always found time to spend with us. He was the pillar and the foundation of the family. It was a seemingly normal day, as I kissed my father goodbye as he enters his car. I went back to eating my breakfast and proceeded with my day. Suddenly, we received a call from my father’s superior. He has suffered a heart attack and is now in the intensive care unit of his own workplace. We hurried to the hospital, but ironically, through all the life-saving work my father did, he cannot save his

It is always a significant occasion for the family. Relatives arrive from different places, including abroad. They also bring with them pasalubong for the family, which everyone enjoys. We all gather at our family’s mausoleum to eat, bond as a family, and most importantly, remember our fallen ones. We would clean and repaint their graves for the celebration. We bring flowers and light candles to offer to the dead. My mother and I would always cook Cansi, my father’s favorite dish, for our relatives. They would also do the same with their dead. We spend the night at the cemetery praying for our deceased. The children would often play and tell ghost stories to each other as the moon and stars twinkle in the …show more content…

“Regina, this is yours” While my mother received the sculpture, she says “Ramon, this is beautiful!” He replied, “I made you a ladle because you’re a skilled cook” My mother showed me the sculpture, a beautiful one indeed. It was in the shape of a ladle which rested on a base with my mother’s name engraved right into it.
“Raymond, this is yours” I step towards him as I receive a sculpture of a stethoscope. “I made you this as my sign of bidding you good luck in Medical School”, Tito Ramon said. “Thank you very much”, I respond. “Rebecca, this is yours” “Ray, this is yours” “Romulus, this is yours” Tito Ramon each gave us a small wooden sculpture of an object that symbolized us. In 1971, the city of San Francisco faced the trepidation of a psychopathic serial killer who went by the name of Scorpio. This deranged maniac was roughly based upon the real life Zodiac Killer, an unrevealed serial killer who, several years earlier, committed five killings in the San Francisco Bay area. In the movie, Scorpio demanded ransom money by leaving notes at the scenes of his crimes where he used a sniper rifle to murder several innocent individuals and later went on to kidnapping a young girl. Inspector Harry Callahan was a member of the San Francisco Police Department and was called “Dirty Harry” by his peers due to the ways by which he handled homicide cases. After being assigned to the case with his latest partner named Chico Gonzalez, they attempted to hunt Scorpio down and put an end to the murders and kidnappings.

Although they still fear it before it happens like any other culture, mexicans have learned to accept death and realize inevitable it truly is. Instead of mourning heavily, they celebrate with happiness and joy because loved ones are no longer suffering. Even children celebrate death, they play with “funeral” toys such as toy coffins and undertakers. Children even carry yellow marigolds to enjoy the processions to the cemetery. At the cemetery, music is played and dances are made to honor the spirits.
During this holiday, family members and friends of the deceased visit their graves and place marigolds on them. Small toys are placed on children’s graves, and bottles of tequila are given to the deceased adults. The relatives then spend the rest of the day at the cemetery. They may have a picnic and enjoy the deceased person’s favorite
One of the topics of which I found interesting was in regards to the building of human happiness in America.
