Father: Arthur's Father affected him by keeping him in the house and making him anti-social. The legend was that he was cutting papers for his scrapbook and he stabbed his father in the leg and returned to cutting the paper like nothing happened. He was taken to a courthouse and was locked up for a month, then his father said he would take care of everything, and kept him inside of the house. Afterwards, he didn’t come out of the house during the day because his father kept him inside, and prevented him from communicating with people. Because he didn’t go out during the day and also didn’t talk to anyone, he became mysterious to everyone. Although his father died, his brother, Nathan Radley takes care of him and also prevented him from communicating
In Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus the father of Jean Louise Finch, gave advice that helps Scout throughout the book. Scout applies it to her life but Atticus applies the advice to his life more than any other character. As Jem,Scout, and Dill were playing their new game Boo Radley, they get caught by Atticus.
Arthur Radley, also known to Jem, Scout, and Dill as “Boo,” is a mysterious character. He’s the Finch’s neighbor and he never comes out of the house, though there are numerous rumors about him. Arthur raises curiosity in Jem and Scout and they try to communicate with him to understand why he stays in the house all the time, but they’re not successful. One day on their way home from school, Jem and Scout found a ring case in a tree. They found two old Indian-head coins inside that have been polished and taken good care of.
Did you know that a average mockingbird has a range of 250 to 350 songs it can sing, the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee came out in 1960, and many who read the book wonder what character is the symbol for a mockingbird, the book is narrated by a little girl named Jean louise(scout) and she has a older brother and father, the book takes place during the Great Depression and focuses around a court case that scouts father is a lawyer in. Tom Robinson represents the mockingbird because he was unfairly targeted, and innocently killed. The first reason why Tom Robinson represent the mockingbird is because he was unfairly targeted, In the story to kill a mockingbird, Atticus said to his kids,” shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can
Quote and page # Paragraph "'Your father does not know how to teach. You can have a seat now.' I mumbled that I was sorry and retired meditating upon my crime." (Question) page: 2 In this quote it seems like it is very interesting.
Evil: I think that Bob Ewell's should be in this column. On pages 227-234 is where Atticus is asking Bob questions about what happened the night of Mayella’s “rape”. During this whole court case Bob was joking in the beginning about Mayella and it was clear that he doesn’t care much for Mayella. He also uses very inappropriate language in the courtroom. On page 230 Bob says “I got to the fence I heard Mayella screaming like a stuck hog inside the house.”
"Scout, I think I'm beginning to understand something. I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this time. It's because he wants to stay inside” (Lee 227). In this quote, by Jem Finch, we see that Jem is growing up and starting to see things from other people's point of view.
Harper Lee’ novel, To Kill A Mockingbird is an explosion of literary genius surrounding one of America’s darkest hours; a time that man turned against itself and brothers waged war. The entire book revolves around a quote stating that “It’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” This quote is both intriguing and blunt: It is a sin to harm the innocent. Throughout the book, Lee exemplifies this by using minor characters that end up playing a large role to the reader. Mayella Ewell’s character seems pretty straight-forward if you skim through the plot.
I believe that this quote refers back to the time when Scout and Jem get new rifles for Christmas and Atticus tells Jem that it would be considered a sin if they shot a mockingbird. Mockingbirds are not predators and they will not harm anything or anyone; the only thing they do is make music with their mouths. Scout is remembering that time and comparing it to what had recently happened in her life. I think that she sees Tom Robinson and Boo Radley as the mockingbirds. Tom Robinson didn’t harm anyone, and the only thing that he did was help those who needed assistance.
Lastly Nathan Radley is a very bad influence in Boo Radley's life. Nathan is careless, mean, and un trustworthy. A good example of this is when Nathan Radley plugged the knothole in the tree. He lie's to Jem and doesn't tell him the real reason he is plugging it up. He doesn't want Jem to know that he is really doing it because Boo is giving the children gifts and Nathan wants him to have no connection to the outside world.
In Harper Lee’s novel To kill a Mockingbird she show the significance of protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Tom Robinson is an african-american man who needs protection because he lives in Maycomb, Alabama and white people think that he is lesser than they are and that all african-americans lie. Arthur Radley or Boo is a recluse and a hermit. He need to be defended because he is not social, he stays inside his house all day and is made fun of by everyone in Maycomb. Scout Finch is the daughter of Atticus and is a young child.
My windsock, represent Scout Finch, with the symbol overalls. I chose Scout because she 's the main character and had a big impact on the book. I choose overall for her symbols because she continues to wear them as fighting against people trying to attempt her to be a lady. She 's not the average girl who dresses up and acts nice. She the type of girl who would fight with her fist instead of her mind.
In “To Kill A Mockingbird” the charter I found most interesting is Atticus. Atticus has several qualities displays that he is an interesting character. Atticus is determined. An example of Atticus being determined is in the Tom Robinson trial. Atticus is also intelligent.
In our class we have been reading the book "To Kill a Mockingbird." In the story a character named Atticus says a quote, "shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit' em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird" (119). A character that shows a similarity with this quote is Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson is an African American who works in Alabama, and he is being accused of rapng a white women named Mayella Ewell. I believe that Tom Robinson relates well with Atticus' quote because he is being accused of a crime that he didn't commit.
To Kill a Mockingbird and The Help both demonstrate the hard times during the civil rights movement by showing the theme growing as a person, even though the novels have their differences throughout different perspectives. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is talking to Atticus about why Jem is acting differently than what he used to. In the novel, it states,” Jem was twelve. He was difficult to live with, inconsistent, moody. His appetite was appalling, and he told me so many times to pestering him, I consulted Atticus: “Reckon he’s got a tapeworm?””
What dose Scout learn about Boo Radley from standing in Boos shoes and walking around in them. In this novel To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee.
