The 9-Iron Country Club offers a variety of amenities to more than 1,200 members. They also have 75 staff members who cater to private functions. During the club’s off season (November through February), is when the staff coordinates with the members of the club for up-coming events, new venues, and activities for the start of the new season. During the off season, the staff has to drive to the office in bad weather conditions to be able to speak with any members who may want to have a function catered. The staff believes they could be more efficient if they were able to work from home with remote access.

This happened all within the first twenty minutes of the meeting. Then the meeting consisted of having a few presenters make an appearance, discussing UW Extension Community Resources, UWEX 4H, base wage adjustment compensation plan for county employees, life insurance, eliminating/creating positions, rezoning and annual reports. Some of these topics including land rezoning may relate to environmental justice, depending on how the zoning effected communities in the area. If the zoning does negatively affect a population, the meeting is where the public can come to bring that to the board’s attention. Some annual reports covered base wage adjustment for county employees, which may affect economic justice of workers.

The 33rd annual Fair at New Boston was an outdoor, living history event held on Labor Day weekend at George Rogers Clark Park in Springfield, Ohio. The two day only event was open to the public for a reasonable admission fee, and was sponsored by a diverse group of prominent companies and local businesses, which included Red Lobster, Hampton by Hilton, Young’s Jersey Dairy, Indian Creek Distillery, and Champion City Cross Fit. The annual Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) initiation brunch is one of the most exciting events to take place every year. It took place on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia and it was nice to see familiar faces, while meeting the new members of the organization. Guest enjoyed some omelets, prime rib, and pancakes, while Dr. William Haddad gave a powerful talk entitled “An Ode to Secular Tyrants: Reflections on the History of the Modern Middle East.” After the keynote, address came the initiation ceremony that included the traditional reading of the “Six Ages” of History. Thirty-six new members joined the ranks of Phi Alpha Theta and became apart of something much bigger- they joined a new family of historians. Guest
March 6th, marked the day on which the Allied Union Club of Queens, held its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The Allied Club is celebrating its 84th year and over 40 years of hosting this joyous event. Many were in attendance to honor this year’s “Man of the Year”, John Baker. Among the attendees, were over 30 honored guests of Local 3, including Business Manager Christopher Erikson, President John E. Marchell, and Queens Representative James Bua. A large number of Representative Baker’s family was also present to show their support for the man of the hour.
