Honor is a privilege that many strive for and is not easily attained. I aspire to call myself a member of the national honor society because I have strong leadership skills, am willing to do what I can to help out the community, I have good judgement, and am prideful of our high school. Character could be defined as who we really are. How we carry ourselves when others are not around, our ethics, morals, and the decisions that define who we truly are and how others will perceive us. I am hard worker, and will do whatever it is I can to get a task completed efficiently. I am very open minded to suggestions and make an effort to be there for others. I am dependable and trustworthy, these qualities have thankfully helped me get a job working
Moreover, I believe that I have been an effective role model for younger students and my peers through my behavior in and out of the classroom. I have been well behaved, respectful, and overall promoted the ideals of a good leader through my actions rather than my words or position of authority. As a member of the National Honor Society, I would promote the ideals of the society by modeling them in my behaviors and leading others to follow
The National Honor Society, NHS, was officially started by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 1921. It started in a Pittsburg high school, but quickly grew throughout the nation. NHS has maintained a long history of admitting exemplary students into the organization. NHS developed four main tenants that have helped guide the purpose, as Zeiger (n.d.) explained: "to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools". I have chosen to do the National Honors Society, because it helped me throughout my junior and senior years in high school.
NHS has impacted my life because the organization has opened my eyes to what an honor society is. Like most members at first I believed that the organization primary focus was about the measure of one 's intelligence and persoal accolades. But, quickly I came to the understanding that the National Honor Society is an orgination whose beliefs are predicated on being a well roudned person. In life there are many narrow minded individuals, who only focus on one thing, such as money, intelligence, or success. But to be a truly well-rounded person you need to have more than one quality.
I am good at problem-solving, staying positive during stressful situations, leading people through difficult times, and being straightforward when I handle unfortunate problems. This reason is one of my best qualities I am open-minded. I am willing to consider new ideas and opinions without being biased. I will acknowledge all these thoughts and go through them while being unprejudiced.
Throughout high school, I have been involved in a great number of activities. These include athletics, clubs, and taking part in community service. I have played varsity field hockey my freshman, sophomore, and senior year of high school. I also played varsity lacrosse my freshman and sophomore year. The sport that I am most well known for is swimming, which I have participated in for all four years of high school.
French Honors Society Application 2015 Huyen Nguyen For the past seven years I have been studying the french language and I believe my years of dedication to learning the language will be put to use in the French Honors Society. Last year, there was not a massive amount of activity happening within the society, however, I believe that with the right planning, french can be further incorporated in everyday lives. Many people within our community have experienced some form of the french culture, but have not experienced everything french has to offer.
The extensive number of words in the English language makes it nearly impossible for any one person to learn them all. The average person says anywhere from 13,000 to 20,000 words per day. But do we truly understand all of these words to their full meaning? The answer is most likely not. Take the word society, for example.
I have always enjoyed teaching people and helping them learn so that they can succeed in school. I got involved with tutoring through National Honor Society and the A+ Scholarship Program. With National Honor Society there is many service opportunities that I am able to be involved in and I do as many as possible, but tutoring homebound has always been what I've prefered to do. This is very important to me because many of these students aren't in class to learn directly from a teacher so things can become confusing fairly quickly and I like to be there to help as much as I am able to. Even at times when it is something that I am not proficient in it becomes a learning experience for me as well as the student I am tutoring.
Madyson O’Shana Scholarship Scholarship is defined as the “academic study or achievement at a high level”. Some people think of it as just an allotment of money that a school grants you, but it not just that. Scholarship has a deeper meaning. Being a scholar is not just about having great grades, but doing everything to the best of your ability and constantly working hard. Scholarship is one of the factors that National Honor Society prides itself on because this allows them to pick members who are driven, have ambition, and goals they would like to reach.
My Values of becoming a part of the NJHS I am Lauren Forsyth and a student of Catonsville Middle School. I feel that I should be a part of National Junior Honor Society because of my dedication towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. The following essay will demonstrate how I have dedicated my time towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. As of 2016, I have dedicated myself to 47 hours of service learning and giving back to my community is a very important part of my life. In 6th grade I created a fundraiser to help breast cancer awareness to help find a cure for breast cancer and I had earned 5 service learning hours with two hundred dollars raised in total at my school.
With my luck I wasn 't surprised that the day National Honor Society slips were handed out, my homeroom teacher was absent. As I went from period to period, everyone gushed about how they were considered to become a part of the society. I sat there silently not saying a word. One can only imagine the stress I went throughout the day wondering if I was in or out. I ended up getting the letter the next day during homeroom.
I believe I display all of the qualities mentioned in the four pillars of National Honor Society. I am a person of good character who displays the six pillars of character in everything I do. I provide leadership and service in many ways and value education as a lifelong learner. Being a member of the National Honor Society would motivate me even more to be the best version of myself and help to create change in positive
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
The National Honors Society places a strong emphasis on the cornerstone traits of character, leadership, and service within the school and outside of school. I have met, and exceeded these qualities by being honest, assisting others, and participating in school activities. My character has always been an important aspect within my life. This is because character is comprised of honesty, selflessness, and compassion. No matter what the situation is, it has always been important to me to be honest with not just those around me, but with myself.
