It is an honor to be chosen to apply for the Columbus Chapter of National Honor Society. National Honor Society has always been something I have strived to be apart of. After reading the the criteria for this honor I feel that I have demonstrated the qualities associated with this organization. I feel that I am deserving of this honor because I truly strive to be the best student I can be in school. I work hard in school and always an prepared when it comes to a quiz or a test. Service is something that I enjoy to do because I get to help others. There are a lot of people that need help in this world, and small acts of service can go a long way. Throughout high school I have done many acts of service. I have volunteered at many different organizations in the Cedar Valley. During Christmas time I have rang the bell for the Salvation Army. I have volunteered at the Catholic Worker House preparing and serving food. I have also served food at the Salvation Army. I have volunteered at the Cedar Valley United Way, helping them with stuff around the office. Outside of school service I help my grandma, who has had a stroke. I'm always there to help her clean and get around the house. I always enjoy helping those in need and I'm always looking to do more. I am always trying to help my community and wish there was more I could do. The last pillar is something that I feel is one of my best qualities. In school and in my athletics, I really like to help people and want to be a leader. I should be considered to be in National Junior Honors Society because I show scholarship and leadership, I have done many community service activities, and I show character and citizenship. I have done many activities involving scholarship and leadership. I am in violin, chorus, and other in-school and after school activities. This means I am familiar with other sides of school, and I can share my experiences and try to make them fit into what we do/what is done in NJHS.

To be in National Junior Honor Society you have to have good character, citizenship,service, and leadership. First, I have good character. I take criticism willingly, and I also welcome recommendations. Second, I demonstrate citizenship well. Civic involvement is very important, and I have high regard to freedom, justice, and respect for the American form of government.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level.
