I believe that the mission of a student ambassador is to promote the vision, growth and quality of University of Maryland, by optimizing the experience of current students, prospective students and special guests. I would like to be a student ambassador primarily because I want to get more involved with the university; not to mention the positive impact it will have on my CV. I would also gain experience in public speaking, building friendships with fellow ambassadors and develop my leadership skills. Furthermore, this offers a responsibility that can be both challenging and extremely rewarding. As a student ambassador, I will actively participate, inspiring pride in Maryland University, upholding university’s reputation and serving as liaisons between students and administration.

I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.
I would also love to become more involved in community service, which is something that NHS would allow me to do. NHS would provide me more activities that I could do to serve my community and make it a better place while also being surrounded with people that have to same goals. I could contribute to NHS because I am very creative.
I want to be a better communicator and contribute my thoughts and opinions without fear. Furthermore, I need to obtain more effective problem solving and decision making skills in order to increase my ability to resolve problems within conflict situations. • What populations/agency settings excite you? I am pursuing a career in gerontological social work as I enjoy working with older adults and adults with disabilities. I want to help advocate for them to maintain their independence within the community through helping to coordinate possible services to meet their social, health, emotional and economic needs.
Why do you want to participate in the Bridges Summer Program? Participating in the Bridges Summer Program will help me greatly in the transition between high school and college. Reading about the program I have learned that this program is meant to help students transition to a college-level work environment and I know that I need this type of help. The good thing about this program is that they help students individually and this way students will have a better chance at really being prepared to start college in the fall. I want to participate in this program so that I can take advantage of how the program will help me to reach my career goal and transition from Valencia to UCF by directconnect.
What I see as the function of the National Honor Society is to encourage young adults like myself to participate more within their school and community. It allows students the ability to give and serve other people that have done so for them. This group will give many students an eye opening experience on volunteering for fellow citizens. If I were to be selected into the National Honor Society, I would contribute to the group by sharing ideas and giving useful feedback to the other students in the group. I would also provide personal experiences of certain voluntary services that I have completed, if needed.
With a passion for involvement in my community, I work hard to do my part and inspire others to do theirs. Being given this opportunity shows my family and myself that I’ve truly worked as hard as I can to succeed. Growing up around adults with a good work ethic has taught me to see the reality in life. Working hard will help create a better future. I not only work hard in my classes but I also participate in sports which gives me the experience of being a leader.
The National Honor Society is an exceptional organization that allows students to help the needy, children, the elderly, and non-profit organizations. I would be excited to join such a society because of the limitless opportunities it presents to me. Joining NHS would allow me to grow as a person, and do as much as I can for others. Throughout my years as a student, I have shown great examples of scholarship, leadership, character and service that I believe would qualify to join this prestigious society. As Wikipedia defines it, the word scholarship means academic study or achievement; learning at a high level.
To live, study and work with students like me from all across Arkansas, would not only be an honor but an extraordinary and challenging experience for my mental capabilities.
