National Junior Honor Society Speech Examples

Hello, my name is Katelynn Lauria, I am a proud 8th grade Skipjack, and the president of the National Junior Honors Society. I would like to congratulate all who have been picked and chosen to join the NJHS, and join us on our adventure. As part of the National Junior Honors Society you are becoming a leader of the school and setting a good example for others, so you need to represent the scholarship and citizenship role of being in NJHS. An example of this is making sure you are following Booker T. Washington’s 5 Rs and setting up a good example of how to act. Following the 5 Rs includes following them not only at school, but at all times in your life like at home. Leadership is exemplified at school when you influence your friends, classmates, and other peers to do

Now lastly service, service can be exemplified by volunteering at places like the community service, helping with races, or volunteering at museums like the Mariners Museum, and the Living Museum. I personally can connect to the service category because you can learn a lot about doing community service and helping others out. It can also give you a new learning experience. But now, I would like to give some advice to the new members. Firstly, always try your best, this may seem like,”Oh everyone tells me this, why is she telling me this?”. But it is true, when you try your best and hardest you learn more about yourself, the subject, and the world around you. Next, try to broaden your horizons. What I mean by this is try to try out new things when it comes to trying to volunteer or learning. For example, if you only volunteer as a tutor, you are not really gaining new experience, but if you volunteer at places helping the community, you are gaining a really good experience. Lastly, make sure you get your hours done on time and not try to wait until the last
