Israel has been dealing with national security threats at the same level or higher than the United States since it’s rebirth over six decades ago. This country has been forced to defend itself against constant terrorist threats. Through these extreme circumstances, Israel has become a leader in mastering techniques and technologies in the realm of homeland security, counterterrorism, and cyber security. Israel is a crucial partner to the United States in the furtherance of our national security for many reasons, but more specifically, through its military involvement, and development of technologies. Our militaries routinely train together to strengthen each nation. Israel has developed state of the art security systems implemented in various …show more content…
Through my extensive research at the Terrorism Research Center, I have recognized domestic and international threats to US national security and have found that much of the international threats come from the Middle East. The technologies developed in Israel are both fascinating and productive in countering terrorism and protecting citizens. Through our partnership with Israel, the United States has Israel’s military support and access to their cutting-edge technologies in the event of an attack by a country in this volatile area of the …show more content…
This will help me achieve my career goals by giving me the opportunity to experience and see how Arabs, Israelis, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and other ethnic minorities have a coexistence in this region. Since I will be exposed to many cultures and religions, I will gain a deeper understanding of both Islamic and Jewish culture. Through gaining credibility through personal experiences, I will bring my experience back to the United States to further intelligence and cultural awareness through implanting policies and strategies in the region. My language ability will be the most important aspect to my career in national security. I can memorize, and absorb concepts form a classroom, but until I immerse myself into the culture and the language, I will not be fully capable of helping or responding to those who speak Arabic. INTEREST GROUPS N.A.A.C.P The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or the N.A.A.C.P was the first American civil rights organization. It was established in February 19, 1909 it was created after a race riot took place in Springfield,Illinois. After the riot lead to a series of lynchings against African Americans, the N.A.A.C.P founders believed that African Americans were not being fairly protected by the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment. The goal of this organization is to make sure that all minorities were being treated equally under the law.

As Disrupters The strength of future militaries will be compared to our own; the expansive reach of the US military is the largest on Earth. From conflicts in South America to the Middle East and Asia, the US has always thrived during wartime, gaining much of its power from the aftermath of World War II. By much of the world today our country is seen as democratic invaders; bringing a message of democracy and freedom while still firmly holding our weapons. In this way, our country has shaped the world drastically; influencing both the progress of technology and the equivalent sizes of foreign militaries.
Almost everybody at one point in life has wondered how things will change in the future, which can mean ten years from now or one hundred years from now. Ray Bradbury, fully known as Raymond Douglas Bradbury, was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 22, 1920, and is a Pulitzer Prize winning author. from a young age, Ray Bradbury loved writing, reading, and acting. Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 showed his depiction of what will happen if society becomes overly consumed within, and highly dependant on the use of technology. He knew that technology was a marvelous thing, but too much of it would drive society to not be creative, along with people acting as if they can not live without the many technological advances.

The homeland security system of the United States is a large machine. It is an all-encompassing machine that produces copious amounts of intelligence and information. How the information is processed, analyzed and distributed is another mechanism of the machine. There are many civil liberty issues that have recently arisen from post 9/11 policies set in place by previous and current administrations. These issues stem from intelligence collection methods in all facets of collection.
Department of homeland security and Domestic Terrorism One of the major reasons why defining domestic terrorism has proved difficult is because different agencies approach terrorism with their different interpretations (White, 2013). The difference between the various definitions of domestic terrorism lies within the various descriptions given about terrorists’ motivations. White (2013) classified domestic terrorism as either those that are politically motivated or others that attempt greater specificity. It is however difficult to establish and define the motivations of terrorists. It is therefore necessary do in-depth analysis on terrorists’ motivation because their purpose reflects the methods and targets the terrorists are most likely to select.
Civil liberties have been affected since the 9/11 events by the Patriot Act. According to N.A. (2003) “The Patriot Act decided to trade away certain civil liberties in exchange for what it hoped would be more security”. As said, the act meanwhile is concerned on providing effective security measures for people in the country, has encroached on freedoms. Like any restrictive law, it has been controversial. For example “many immigrants who had lived in the United States for decades have been rounded up and deported for minor visa violations, not for any connection to terrorism” stated N.A. (2003).
In my opinion, Homeland Security should be able to do what they feel is necessary to insure the safety of Americans. As long as they do not try and do anything to that is too intrusive or crazy. New technology like facial recognition can be a very useful tool and I do not feel like it is violating anyone’s individual rights. I would much rather be safe and go through TSA checks such as body searches and scans then complain about it and but myself at risk.
From my first semester in college I could not decide what career I want to be in. After a long time thinking and researching I narrowed down my interest to political science, and my interests have directed me towards international relations and laws. I am fascinated by how the states of the world cooperate together to build a safe place for everyone. American government places a huge role in the world and many countries need American Foreign Service to help them with their problems. After hearing Melissa Martinez, I understood maybe it is good to think about working in Foreign Service.
National Security in the 21st Century will encompass threats ranging from fraud, corruption, illegal migration, transnational crime and environmental degradation. One could consider seven broad subject areas of focus, economic security, food security, health and environment security, personal security and community security. The new threats to national security will come from emerging issues like terrorism, oil and gas depletion, environmental concerns, including climatic alterations, HIV/AIDS and over-population.
