Over the past nine years I have had the honor and privilege of serving as a United States Navy Nurse Corps Officer. During my deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as my operational tour aboard USS KEARSARGE, I have learned the tremendous value engaged leadership and effective training has on the mission accomplishment and troop welfare of the dedicated professionals who compromise the United States military forces. I am seeking to further serve my country by increasing my knowledge in Education and Training Management Subspecialty (ETMS) to lead, educate, and train Sailors and Marines for the challenges they face every day. According to Seels and Richey (1994), instructional technology (IT) is, “the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning.” While I have never had the desire to become an Instructional Designer, I have learned over the last nine years as a Naval Officer, nurse, …show more content…
As Mr. Henry Ford so simply stated in 1937, “an educated person, I think, is one who not only knows a lot, but knows how to do a lot of things,” which is what I strive to be, someone who continually learns and can do a lot of things. Hence, why I am pursuing a Master’s in Education and not a Master’s in Nursing. I guess one could say I am very lucky as I have found three noble and successful passions in life: serving my country, being a nurse, and now becoming an educator within hospital

I really enjoy working with Officer Varnum as he is a very friendly, polite, courteous and professional officer. I have found him to be a very hard working dedicated employee that not only enjoys his job but he enjoys helping others succeed as well. He allows his skills, knowledge and common sense to guide him when making decisions related to any of his activities and he is always open to suggestions or ideas from others. Although he needs little supervision, he takes the initiative to keep his supervisor informed about his calls and proactive work. Officer Varnum continues to impress me with his performance and professionalism and he is an excellent representative of the department.

Surface Warfare Officers (SWO) are known as the backbone of the Navy. For years I have desired to obtain this position and have done extensive research concerning the attributes and requirements. Because I believe the Navy begins in the heart as well as the head, I know that becoming a part of the Navy would be life changing. Commissioning as a SWO would allow me to make a meaningful difference, as well as gain unparalleled leadership experience.
Until I decided to go to Lenape, I had not had any plans for what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When I learned I could graduate as a Certified Nurse Assistant, I was interested immediately. However, I knew I wanted to accomplish more than that. I love learning and I have a lot of empathy so I knew healthcare would be a perfect match for me.
Or do you want a Soldier that can act automonously, take a task at hand with vague instruction and figure out the intention behind it. There has been much debate on the benefits of Outcome Based Training and Education (OBT&E) versus the traditional method of Performance Oriented Training and the discipline and “Attention to Detail” which it provided. II. A. In 2009, the United States Military Academy introduced Outcome Based Training and Education in order
A Marine officer possesses an accomplishment that few are able to claim. They have a remarkable acuity that is obtained through years of unrelenting labor in both classrooms and physical training environments. I have witnessed this and, like many other people, I have become inspired. It has been my desire to serve the United States which I am proud to call home. Leading other more than worthy Marines would be an immense honor as well.
The United States Army Signal Corps is a cardinal branch of the military that provides communication support to the Army, develops new and efficient communication technologies, and protects communication networks against cyber-attacks. The Signal Corps plays a critical role in military operations, and its importance cannot be stressed enough. One historical figure who served in the Signal Corps and made significant contributions to its development is Major General George Owen Squier. Born on March 21, 1865, in Dryden, Michigan, Squier graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point in 1887 and began his career as an officer in the Signal Corps.
One book, choosing a Vocation, argues that “the best abilities and enthusiasms of the developed man with the daily work he has to do” (Parsons). A person does not need a bachelor’s degree to be successful. Some people just need simple knowledge with lots of experience to become successful. The also offers that educators “guide our boys and girls to some extent through school, the drop them into this complex world to fail or succeed entirely as the case may be” (Parsons). Even with a bachelor’s degree, nobody will know whether the student will be successful or
Nursing, and everything that it entails, cannot be easily described in just one simple word or phrase. It goes beyond the meaning of a profession and the stereotypical definition of treating the ill. Nursing is the “protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association, 2010, p. 1). Therefore, it is a career that requires dedication, passion, critical thinking, and knowledge. It demands commitment and an understanding of its core values and concepts, as well as the nurse’s own personal philosophy and principles.
In 1870, nursing had been learnt from the mothers to the daughters. Now it has been changed to the school education that the students learn the nursing skill from the nursing professionals and the education programs of nursing keep developing from the 1900s to now that the diploma school has been changed to BSN, AND, and the postgraduate school has also been replaced by Master degree, CNL, PhD, DNSc, ND and DNP (Martha, n.d.). Therefore, the people have more chance to learn and be the nurse. Education programs also produce more and more professional nurses for the world to develop the nursing profession. Nursing education provides the nursing theories and practical training for the students to help them learn the knowledge of nursing and their duties, in order to protect patient safety and the safety of the public.
My teaching philosophy stems from my belief that the gauge of a teacher 's success is how effectively the teacher prepares students, not only for present courses, but for their future professional careers. As a Nurse, I am committed to the nursing profession and I chose nursing since; nurses have the chance to a life changing event to every patient. Nurses promote Health Education, Healing and Prevention of Illness, as well as performing end of life care through a dignified death. I chose to be a nurse because I wanted to contribute to humanity, to feel that the world was in some small way, better because I was a part of it.
