U.S. Navy SEALs and their companion Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewmen (SWCC) have become an ubiquitous component of the on-going war against terrorism on a world-wide basis, yet, until recently, they have remained predominately and uniquely obscure. They specialize in all kinds of warfare and are most effective from the water.

For example, the Government has been successful in increasing the budget for CND, and in providing more resources for personnel recruitment and retention. Additionally, the Government's initiatives to increase diversity in the CND workforce have been successful, and the CND is now better equipped with modern equipment and technology. However, the Government's efforts to increase transparency and accountability within the CND, and to ensure the physical and mental well-being of personnel deployed abroad, have not been as successful. To address these issues, a number of non-governmental organizations have been created. Organizations such as the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS), the Canadian Forces Ombudsman, and the Care for the Canadian Armed Forces (C4CAF) have been created to provide support and resources for Canadian Armed Forces personnel, both domestically and abroad.

Danny Dietz was one of the few who claimed the prestigious title of “SEAL” and represented America by fighting to defend our freedoms. This man gave the ultimate sacrifice of his life and demonstrated true servant leadership. His memory lives on forever through the hearts and minds of his family and friends, and through the everyday tasks of service members today.

Upon watching the speech from ADM McRaven, I felt motivated to make use of the guidance he gave in my daily life. Although he had many great points and useful advice that I plan on exercising in my career, I felt there were three major key points that I felt passionately to advocate for, and that I can relate to.

A leader must possess teamwork skills and utilize them to the best of his ability; essentially working and cooperating with others and potentially getting them on their feet working toward the completion of goals, past all impediments, overcoming all obstacles.
