When Hitler came to power as chancellor few in government believed that he would end up the way he did, but once he gained full control over the government he instituted many social policies that would change how Germany operated. One of the first actions the Nazi’s took was the boycott of Jewish businesses in Germany led by the SA, also known as the Brown Shirts or Storm Troops. They painted a huge Star of David on Jewish owned businesses, however, it was not extremely successful as many Germans continued to purchase form Jewish businesses. In the same year the Nazi’s would also start a series of racially hygienic laws and policies that would turn into a eugenics program. The process of sterilization would only be the beginning of what was to come, concentration camps and death would also be created by the Nazi’s. While we may think of this as a terrible thing to do, under the guise of purifying the German race it had broad public support. The Jewish people had barely started to feel the wrath of the Nazi’s and in September of 1935 they would now have to comply with the Nuremberg Laws. The Nuremberg Laws stripped citizenship from Jews and prohibited intermarriage between a Jew and an Aryan amongst many things; the Jewish people had not been officially seen as the other before the law. These actions would also lead to thousands of Jews leaving Germany. This was just the beginning as eventually it became extremely burdensome for Jews to own businesses and these policies were not only implemented in Germany but in all countries that the Nazi’s occupied. On November 9, 1938 the Night of Broken Glass occurred which was a violent assault against the Jewish people. Overnight hundreds of businesses and synagogues were burnt down and many Jews were beaten and some were even killed. The SA had been responsible for
