One of the examples is the sphere of education where computers are nowadays widely used in the classroom. Considering this fact, many people are worried about the decline of literacy since “computers discount words in favor of pictures and pictures in favor of videos” (Gelernter 212). With regard to this, children get less access to the written texts and lose a valuable opportunity of developing their writing skills. Besides, the frequent use of computer technologies for searching and keeping information is influencing brain structures and connections so that they tend to lose valuable skills (Carr 23). for example, using spell checkers or calculators, which has become a usual practice in modern time, discourages the development of skills connected with the correct use of language and decreases the capabilities to math and other sciences. Besides, the cyberspace does not only impact the ability of people to learn but also the ability to perform. Living in a world with numerous factors of distraction, including unexpected messages or emails, an individual does not develop multitasking skill.
