Having a healthier life is something that everyone wants to have but is one thing that most of the population doesn’t know how to attain. Even worse is lots of people think they are doing things that are good for them, but are actually harming themselves or their families. The educational systems that are forced upon Americans teaches very little about how to practice healthy habits. Most people take a general biology class and learn about speciation and how organ systems work, but there is never a lesson about proper nutrition. All high schoolers and middle schoolers are forced to take physical education, where they learn to hate working out and doing suicides (an activity where the student must run back and forth without stopping for as long …show more content…

One of the groups has the rats being starved for 48 hrs, another where they fast for 16 hrs, and a control group where they are fed normally. The fasting groups have developed lipid droplets in the heart muscles, which is an accumulation of lipids and fats. These droplets increase the probability for heart and tissue complications such as heart attacks and diabetes. The fasting caused a change in gene expression in both fasting groups with a more severe case in the 48 hr group. These changes caused an increase in production of fatty acid oxidation mechanisms (break down of fats) and a lowering in the production and use of insulin (a molecule that breaks down sugars). This means that in the long run the digestive system will no longer be able to break down sugars and will force the body to either store or excrete any sugars that may enter the digestive system. This study also showed that extended fasting causes a weakening of the intracellular cytoskeletons and tubules. These are important mechanisms in protecting cells and keeping their shape and also in moving things in and out of the cells. When this breaks down the cell’s efficiency drops significantly and can deplete internal communications between the cells. This diet is being recommended to people who don’t have enough background knowledge to do effective research on how far to take this diet. …show more content…

That without their service or product the consumer will have not lived as healthy of a life for those who use their product. TV and radio ads made by pharmaceutical companies are very controversial, in fact, only two countries in the whole world allow these businesses to advertise directly to the consumers because of the misinterpretations about the drug or disease that may gather from a complex topic. Only the United States and New Zealand let these companies interact directly with the public only countries instead force companies to pay off doctors into only selling their drugs and treatments. Both of these tactics have their issues and could be improved. In many cases, doctors do exactly that and push one brand of drug over another to their patients instead of thinking about their well being and what is best for the
