I can tell this source is reliable because it is from NY Times, which is a news source.
Illegal Immigration is a big part of the world today. You see every day in the news, something bad happening or more people sneaking in from other countries, illegally. Illegal immigration has both positive and negative effects on the country. One of the positive effects is that illegal immigrants makes the economy have a boost. For example, “Illegal immigrants in the U.S. are said to have contributed around 300 billion to the Social Security Trust Fund” Illegal immigrants are not entitled to various benefits, some companies make this clear to save on labor costs. Also, illegal immigrants take up low end jobs that do not attract some people. It is significant though because most immigrants, immigrate to find better living and jobs. One of the negative effects of illegal immigration is that some of the immigrants take up good jobs that we can’t give to our disabled,

I understand that they want to come over here because there is no child labor, sweatshops, wars and we are a fully developed country. We also have jobs, houses and land for them, but that doesn 't mean that they need to invade. If they have to do things illegally, just to come over here, doesn’t that seem a little shady to you? I mean, it does to me. If they wanna be here, but claim they don 't wanna cause trouble, then why not just get civilized? Many people will agree with me, but there are many people who will disagree, but, to each his own. All of this illegal immigration really bothers me because we don 't have the shelter, food or proper service for our homeless or veterans, which has fought for our country. We need to show them the respect that they deserve. In conclusion, illegal immigration will continue to happen until something serious happens, which I do not know what that will be. But in my opinion, I hope it happens
There is an estimate of about 10 million illegal immigrants that are living in the United States. (Erin H. Fouberg, Human Geography) Even though they immigrated here to the US, they shouldn’t be considered as “illegals”. Immigration requires change and sacrifices for many people in order to stay in their homes. There is no wrong if you are considering to make a change in your life.
According to a study released last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, as of 2008, 11.9 million illegal immigrants lived in the United States, more than triple the 3.5 million who lived in the country in 1990 (Izumi). Immigration throughout the years has become a major issue in the U.S because of too many immigrants entering the country year after year. The U.S has come to a point whether they should deport the immigrants back to their country. Believe it or not, these immigrants are a big contribution to the U.S. If it wasn’t for them, the U.S economy wouldn’t be where it stands now.
Illegal immigrants are a major part of the US labor force and have been an important source of low-skilled labor supply to the US economy for many decades. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that the number of unauthorized immigrants in the US labor force was 8.3 million in 2008, up from 6.3 million in 2003 but down slightly from the 2007 peak of 8.5 million. And there are currently 11.9 million unauthorized immigrants living in the United States, with an average of 500,000 new entrants arriving annually over the last decade. (Passel and Cohn, A Portrait of Unauthorized Immigrants in the United States, 2009).
Immigration reform has been a big issue for our country in recent years. Many U.S. citizens claim that immigration is harmful to the US economy. In just 20 years, we have seen the average number of immigrants per year jump a staggering 20%. This has lead to the biased opinions we see towards immigration today. Currently, our country is not receiving any benefit from immigration.
Immigration not only affects people's lives it affects the American economy as well. A new thing I have heard about is immigrants “taking” native born americans jobs. “A popular view is that immigrants are taking jobs from American citizens. However, although immigrants increase the supply of labor, they also spend their wages on homes, food, TVs and other goods and services and expand domestic economic demand. This increased demand, in turn, generates more jobs to build those homes, make and sell food, and transport TVs.
There are a lot of controversial issues surrounding this country. Whitin all those controversial issues there 's the “issue” of illegal immigration. I 'm sure we 're all familiar with the term “illegal immigration”. We’re always told about how bad it is. Don 't get me wrong, it is bad but it 's not done with the intention of hurting someone else but to try and change their future.
The population is growing fast and massive immigration is to blame. Not only is this a problem, but the economy of the United States is hurting too. Many people become unemployed and others are hit hard by paying high tax. The environment is also being harmed, due to the overpopulation factor. Immigration can become a serious problem without stricter laws.
There is an estimate of 8.7 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, according to the Center for immigration studies. They come here because they want a better life for their family, but their presence has caused many problems for the citizens of this country. Moreover, immigration has always been an important issue in the story of the United States. Many undocumented immigrants are able to enter the country illegally. These people along with other citizens say that undocumented immigrants are good for the country as they help the economy by working for a minimum wage in jobs that many refuse to do.
“Undocumented immigrants contribute significantly to state and local taxes, collectively paying an estimated $11.64 billion a year’’(qtd. in “Is Illegal Immigration An Economic Burden To America?”). The U.S. would lose billions of dollars in taxes if they were to be deported. Not only do they pay their taxes, but they also help raise GDP.(“10 Critical Pros And Cons Of Illegal Immigration” ). The number of immigrants that do not pay their taxes is too limited for it to be considered a burden to our economy.
Have you ever thought that this country, the United States of America is secured? Sorry to burst your bubble, but it never was, due to illegal immigrants coming from another country without a valid pass. Illegal Immigrant should not be allowed in the United States. There are many reasons why Illegal Immigrants should not be allowed, firstly Illegal Immigrants take jobs from Americans and Legal Immigrants. The next reason is because Illegal Immigrants cause more crimes to be committed.
Our policies on illegal immigration can diminish the problem by enforcing immigration laws, revoking birthright autonomy, and demanding proof of citizenship when applying for social services. Immigration has become a major problem in this country and needs to be restricted. Our economic implications would be beneficial towards the U.S. economy. Without the crutch of illegal immigrants holding us back, our U.S. economy can prosper more than ever. Due to the current economic slowdown, labor demands had been reduced and has forced many out of work.
Although illegal immigrants do pose some benefits to our country the benefits do not outweigh the negatives. The tax burden that these illegal immigrants is footed by the American taxpayers which can be hurtful to the
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2) While some argue that illegal immigrants burden the United States of America and its economy, others believe that they have become essential and are an important part of the US, economy.
Immigration has always been a crucial topic in the United States government. Especially when it comes to giving amnesty and passing an immigration reform to 11 million immigrants, that live in the country. Many citizens believe that immigrants are detrimental to the well-being of the United States and do not agree with the passage of an immigration reform. One reason is that many believe immigrants take away the jobs of American citizens. Other reasons are that immigrants bring crime to the country and affect the economy.
The Problems With Illegal Immigration Immigration has been a major issue in the America. Especially illegal immigration.
