Television Advertisements of Junk Food Have a Negative Influence on the Eating Behaviour of Children Ileen Rommens Group A2 Brigitte van Pelt-Hinkle Avans University of Applied Sciences Children watch television two hours a day. They see many advertisements. According to researcher Powell et al. (2007) 83 percent of food advertisements targeting children are about junk food. Children are highly exposed to advertisements about unhealthy food. What are the effects of a highly exposure to these advertisements? This position paper will discuss the claim: television advertisements of junk food have a negative influence on the eating behaviour of children. The con side of the claim will be discussed in the second paragraph. The first argument in favour of the claim will be given in the third paragraph. The second argument in favour of the claim will be given in the fourth paragraph. The third argument in favour of the claim will be given in the fifth paragraph.
